Position Overview
Seatuck is seeking a part-time bookkeeper to join our wildlife conservation nonprofit organization. We expect the position will require 12 to 15 hours per week on average. While this is a flexible position, the bookkeeper must be available one day per week in our office (Islip, NY). This position reports to the executive director and works closely with the office manager and the directors of conservation, development and education.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities are to ensure the accuracy of the Seatuck’s books and to provide financial reports necessary for management and board to fulfill fiduciary oversight responsibilities. Ongoing duties include handling accounts payable/receivable (including creating invoices and grant reimbursement submissions), creating monthly financial statements and all monthly reconciliations, and submitting biweekly payroll and 403(b) retirement information. The bookkeeper is also the primary liaison with Seatuck’s accounting firm on annual audit and tax returns.
Qualifications
Associate degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent experience with a non-profit organization. At least three years of experience is preferred. The candidate should also possess a knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles, and have experience with QuickBooks Online accounting software.
