    Osprey Camp, a not-for-profit outdoor youth education program at Camp Solomon Schechter, has provided safe and immersive overnight camp experiences to thousands of elementary and high school age students in Western Washington for over 50 years. We strive to create safe, inclusive, and eye-opening outdoor experiences for participants of all ages. We believe all children in Washington State should be able to attend outdoor school.     The Program Director (Assistant Camp Director) assists in the overall management of the program by directing the day-to-day operations of camp, supervising staff, coordinating camp schedules, and assisting with administrative work. This includes managing the curriculum of our program, as well as our high school mentor program. This includes communicating with high schoolers and school professionals, coordinating schedules for camp sessions, overseeing curriculum developments, and serving as the primary liaison between mentors, outdoor school staff, and school district employees. The ideal candidate will have a background in working with schools, managing camp operations, managing logistics, and mentoring high school-aged youth. The Program Director reports directly to the Osprey Camp Director.

    Job Specific Responsibilities

    1. Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the high school mentor program, including recruitment, training, and supervision of mentors.
    2. Develop and maintain mentor schedules for camp sessions, ensuring adequate coverage and support for all activities.
    3. Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between mentors, camp staff, and school district employees, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
      1. Provide guidance and support to mentors, assisting them in developing mentoring skills and strategies to support high school students.
      2. Help organize and facilitate training sessions for mentors, focusing on topics such as leadership, communication, and mentorship best practices.
      3. Collaborate with school administrators and staff to ensure alignment between the mentor program and school objectives and priorities.
      4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the mentor program, collecting feedback from participants and stakeholders to inform program improvements.
      5. Manage logistical aspects of the Osprey Camp daily program, including resource allocation, scheduling of staff, and coordination of facilities.
      6. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities, including participant information, session attendance, daily schedules and program evaluations.
      7. Stay informed about trends and developments in youth leadership, mentorship, outdoor stewardship, and education, incorporating best practices into program design and implementation.
    4. Assume duties and responsibilities of the Camp Director during their absence.
    5. Assist the Camp Director in planning and carrying out staff orientation and in-service staff trainings.
    6. Directly supervise program staff which includes providing daily guidance, support, feedback, and formal reviews throughout the season.
