    We are looking for a qualified and adept Security Lead to join our team for Trans Pride Seattle, held on June 27, 2025.

    As a Security Lead, you will develop and implement efficient security strategies to safeguard our pride event. You will ensure the protection of the rented equipment, ensure a secure work environment for staff, volunteers and performers, and the audience of Trans Pride Seattle. In addition, you will secure a large, outdoor event space for thousands of attendees at a pride event held in a park in Seattle, WA. We seek a highly skilled individual with a deep understanding of security strategies and a proven track record in managing security operations.

    Objectives of this role

    • Lead and manage a team of volunteer security personnel, including recruitment, training, and day of performance management for the June 27, 2025 event Trans Pride Seattle.
    • Serve as the security expert on the weekly Trans Pride Seattle steering committee calls.
    • Lead and manage the relationship with paid and bonded professional security personnel hired by Trans Pride Seattle.
    • Developing and implementing robust security strategies and policies to protect the event including rented equipment, employees, volunteers, participants and facilities.
    • Assessing potential risks and vulnerabilities, investigating security breaches and reinforcing appropriate measures to mitigate them.
    • Collaborating with Trans Pride Seattle steering committee to ensure integration of security requirements into the event in all aspects.
    • Conducting regular security assessments, audits and inspections to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
    • Maintaining and updating emergency response plans, ensuring all employees and volunteers know their roles and responsibilities.
    • Fostering a culture of security awareness and training employees on security protocols and procedures.

    Your tasks

    • Develop and implement extensive security plans, policies and procedures to protect Trans Pride Seattle including personnel, assets, and audience.
    • Attend weekly planning meetings for Trans Pride Seattle to discuss any relevant information pertinent to event planning.
    • Lead, train and supervise a team of security personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
    • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
    • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
    • Manage communication channels, surveillance equipment and other security technologies to ensure proper functioning and effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with internal departments of Gender Justice League and Trans Pride Seattle, to ensure compliance with security protocols and standards.
    • Document security breaches, incidents and violations, and present to leadership those findings, and implement corrective actions.
    • Educate employees on security awareness, policies and procedures through training programs and communication initiatives.
    • Stay informed about the latest security technologies, trends and regulatory requirements and make recommendations for enhancements to the security program.

    Required skills and qualifications

    • 3 years of experience in security management, law enforcement or the armed forces, with a strong understanding of security principles and practices.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement security policies, procedures and programs.
    • Familiarity in working with people experiencing intoxication or mental health crises using de-escalation techniques in collaboration with medical and volunteer staff.
    • Familiarity with laws, regulations and industry standards pertaining to security and safety with respect to city, county and state regulations.
    • Familiarity with, and a demonstrated understanding of, Washington State’s vibrant LBGBTQ+ community, and the residents who are parts of those communities.
    • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse security team.
    • Experience with engaging in an anti-racism analysis as it pertains to security and law enforcement engagement.
    • Familiarity with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities in Seattle and the history of law enforcement and policing in these communities.
    • Attention to detail and a keen eye for identifying and mitigating security risks.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
    • Physical fitness and the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.

    Preferred skills and qualifications

    • Relevant professional certifications in security management or related areas, like Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Certified Security Manager (CSM).
    • Knowledge of emergency response planning and incident management.
    • Ability to adapt to changing security threats and technologies.
    • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
    • Training or experience in emergency response and crisis management.
