    About the Role

    We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of specific functions within the accounting system and established processes and the management of cash and collection thereof. The Senior Accountant will also interact with members of the Accounting department and all project staff to resolve problems with customers to arrange payments.

    Responsibilities

    Acting with limited supervision and a high degree of collaboration with others. The Senior Accountant manages or performs the following:

    • Create and book billable invoices for projects; monitor and collect outstanding receivables.
    • Administer corporate card program; assist with orders; resolves problems.
    • Manage, monitor and report on cash flow; prepares and initiates federal cash drawdowns and the reconciliation thereof.
    • Prepares Form 272 (Federal Cash Transaction Report) quarterly, for submission to the National Science Foundation.
    • Researches and resolves problems with general ledger entries.
    • Prepares and posts complex journal entries and adjustments for month-end and year-end closing processes.
    • Maintains and updates various schedules, e.g. project lists, cash flow.
    • Performs monthly project closing review and processing.
    • Reviews and approves AP batches and purchase orders.
    • Performs monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing detailed account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
    • Prepares monthly investment worksheet and investment and lease journal entries.
    • Maintains and reconciles fixed assets schedule and records depreciation entries.
    • Provides accounting processes and system end-user training for new hires.
    • Assists in year-end close and audit work paper preparation.
    • Performs other duties as needed, to be assigned by the Controller.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent
    • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong attention to detail and good follow-through skills
    • Ability to work in collaborative decision-making environment
    • Strong written and oral English communication skills
    • Solid knowledge of accounting practices and ability to implement company policies
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. SAP Concur and Deltek Costpoint)
    • Familiarity with Mac Computers
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

    This is a full-time/exempt position reporting to the Controller. TERC has a hybrid work environment, with freedom to work from home when not needed on-site.
