    Descrição

    The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial operations at the Tenement Museum. This position report to the VP, Finance and is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and grant/fund accounting. The Senior Accountant also supports annual audits, system integrations, and continuous improvement of financial processes, working closely with internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and highly organized, along with a strong background in nonprofit or museum accounting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accounts Payable & Receivable:
      • Manage vendor payments and expense processing through Bill.com, Concur, and Sage Intact.
      • Ensure timely and accurate invoice approval, coding and reconciliation
      • Process and reconcile accounts receivable, including incoming payments
    • General Ledger & Financial Reporting:
      • Maintain accurate financial records and perform general ledger reconciliations in Sage Intacct
      • Record and track all revenue entries
      • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close procedures, including month end entries
      • Prepare financial reports, schedules, and monitor budgets using Excel and Power BI
    • Grant & Fund Accounting:
      • Track restricted funds and grant allocations to ensure proper use and reporting
      • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and funder specific requirements
    • Audits:
      • Prepare financial documents reconciliations, and schedules for annual audits
      • Collaborate with external auditors and respond to audit requests
      • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit financial regulations, and internal controls
      • Address audit findings and implement recommended process improvements
    • Systems & Process Improvement:
      • Utilize Salesforce and Ticketure for earned and donor revenue reconciliation and financial data tracking
      • Support system integrations and optimize workflow
      • Streamline data collection and financial reporting using Jotform
      • Assist with internal reviews and external compliance reporting

    Qualifications & Skills

      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree a plus
      • Minimum 4 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for experience in nonprofit or museum environments
      • Hands-on experience with financial systems, including Bill.com, Salesforce, Sage Intacct, Power BI, and Jotform
      • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic financial modeling; strong skills across Microsoft Office Suite
      • In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and nonprofit financial regulations, including fund tracking and grant compliance
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present it clearly
      • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently while effectively collaborating across departments
