    Position Summary:

    The Manager of Clinical Care and Education (Manager) provides critical, multi-faceted support to PPMD’s Vice President of Clinical Care & Education and the entire PPMD Care Team. The Manager contributes to the Care team’s efforts to optimize access to clinical care and provide community and professional education materials for the Duchenne and Becker communities (Duchenne).

    The Manager is primarily responsible for the development of community and professional education resources (print, website, webinars, direct mail, audience-specific materials, podcasts, etc...) to support PPMD’s Care and Engagement programs and activities. Collaborating across all sectors of this department and across pillars as warranted, the Manager identifies gaps in program, education and professional communications; develops the content and graphics for each resource; and determines the manner of distribution for greatest access to these resources.

    The Manager collaborates with the VP of Clinical Care and Education (VP) in planning and managing the execution of key care-related education meetings, summits and conferences. The Manager creates impactful content and use of tools and visuals for distribution of materials to attendees.

    The Manager participates in the Care team’s efforts to optimize access to clinical care and support systems for the Duchenne community by speaking with people, families and caregiverts who enter PPMD’s care network and connecting those individuals to a wide range of resources, healthcare programs, supports and educational materials.

    The Manager regularly accesses confidential and sensitive information and interacts with a diverse group of individuals within PPMD and outside of the organization including patients, families/caregivers, volunteers and healthcare providers. It is imperative that the Manager maintain discretion, confidentiality, professionalism and strict adherence to HIPPA rules in the performance of the position’s duties.

    Essential Duties: The Manager of Clinical Care and Education will be able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation:

    Clinical Care Education Initiatives

    • Lead the development of community education materials including creation of new resources (drafting content, selecting format and graphics), auditing/updating existing resources, identifying appropriate audience and best means of distribution.
    • Regularly review and update PPMD website’s Care pages to include approved therapies and access, reimbursement resources and other care-related topics of interest to the Duchenne community.
    • Lead the development and execution of professional education resources, including Lunch & Learns, Community Education webinar series, PPMD Professionals and Educators Masterclass and other current and to-be-created programs.
    • Collaborate with VP on care-related publications, including intermittent audit and updating of Care Consensus Guidelines.
    • Liaise with Senior Director, Clinical Care and Community Engagement and manager of the Certified Duchenne Care Center Program, as well as other PPMD Team Leads to synthesize learnings, ensure harmonization of efforts across PPMD care programs and strategically disseminate critical information from professional meetings, relevant consortia, etc. back to the patient and caregiver community.

    Clinical Care Events and Administration

    Participate in development, coordination, and execution of care-related projects, programs, and community education efforts including but not limited to:

    • Provide critical support to VP in planning and execution of PPMD Healthcare Professionals Summit, care consensus meeting series, and other care-related professional meetings, including communication of critical information back to Duchenne community-at-large.
    • Oversee and ensure the submission of content for continued education credit where applicable, including PPMD’s Summit, care consensus meetings, and/or web-based content, etc.
    • Collaborate with VP and manager of the CDCC Program to cultivate relationships and collaborations with healthcare professionals.
    • Liaise across PPMD pillars, including advocacy, research, registry and development, as needed, to incorporate key relevant strategic initiatives and clinical findings into Education materials.

    Family Education and PPMD for You

    • As part of the Care team, interact directly with patients, families/caregivers and healthcare professionals who seek education and support from PPMD and participate in various PPMD programs.
    • Raise awareness of existing resources, care providers, information, healthcare facilities, community groups and other avenues of support and care.

    Required Education, Experience, Skills and Attributes:

    • Registered Nurse, Bachelor of Nursing
    • Minimum three years clinical direct care experience (nursing, social work or equivalent direct care position) preferably for individuals with dystrophinopathy
    • Minimum five years’ experience with developing clinical care, healthcare or related education/information content for a wide range of users
    • Strong administrative, organizational, detail-oriented skills
    • Demonstrated excellent written communication skills to address diverse audiences
    • Strong verbal communication and listening skills to participate in Clinical Care intake processes and education meetings
    • Ability to handle multiple competing assignments and deadlines effectively and efficiently with a calm, professional demeanor
    • Absolute adherence to standards of confidentiality, discretion and ethical conduct
    • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and to work in a collaborative manner within and across organization teams
    • Flexible, “can-do” attitude and ability to pivot quickly and seamlessly between projects
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Preferred Education, Experience, Skills and Attributes:

    • Knowledge of Duchenne, Becker or other rare disease diagnosis and healthcare programs
    • Bilingual writing/speaking skills, both English and either Spanish or other relevant language

    Physical Requirements:

    The Manager will be able to meet these requirements with or without accommodations:

    • Ability to use a computer keyboard for extended times, with breaks as needed
    • Though generally a sedentary job with minimal lifting requirements, must have capacity to lift 15-30 pounds when needed to assist with event set up/break down and distribution of materials, with or without accommodations
    • Stamina to participate in virtual meetings of up to 2 hours
    • On occasion, stamina to assist and participate in 10 to 12-hour events with moderate breaks as needed
    • Ability to communicate orally, often via phone and/or virtual meeting, in a clear and articulate manner
    • On occasion, ability to travel locally/nationally via different transportation modes, including airlines, and ability to navigate large meeting spaces.

    Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements:

    Valid Authorization to work in the United States.

    Work Environment:

    This is primarily a remote role, with provision of technology equipment to support a remote workspace.

    Travel:

    Moderate local/national travel required to attend Summit and other group meetings and organizational events.
