    Description

    This is an exciting opportunity for a service-oriented individual to join a growing nonprofit making a real impact on the lives of refugees in Union and Essex counties. If you’re passionate about supporting recently-arrived immigrant newcomers on their path to self-sufficiency, get in touch!

    Responsibilities

    • Provide case management services to RSS-eligible immigrant populations in

    Union and Essex counties

    • Collect required documents to screen for eligibility and enroll clients in RSS

    program; complete intake and assessment of need within required time frames

    set forth in RSS protocol

    • Develop and implement methods for client outreach as well as receiving clients

    from referring agencies

    • Assess individual and family needs and provide case management to eliminate

    barriers identified through the creation of a family self-sufficiency pla

    individual employment plan

    • Develop household budgets with clients upon program enrollment, after any

    change in household circumstances, and at 6 and 12 months in the program

    • Provide various forms of assistance to clients, including information and referral,

    advocacy, translation/interpretation services, and access to public assistance

    programs if eligible

    • Ensure clients are enrolled in ELL and employability services to enhance job

    placement potential and retention

    • Connect clients to community resources to help address needs and benefit the

    daily living

    • Disseminate information about the program to various community groups to

    ensure adequate client awareness of existing services

    • Complete 6 and 12 month follow-up assessments with clients
    • Maintain client records and keep case notes on each referral made
    • Ensure timely data entry and reporting on a monthly and/or quarterly basis
    • Maintain and add to an active list of resources in the community
    • Respect and maintain client confidentiali
    • Perform other relevant duties as assigned

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree required. Master of Social Work degree desired
    • Fluency in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole required
    • 2+ years of experience in social work, counseling, or related field desired
    • Experience assessing client needs and appropriate referrals; developing mutually

    agreed-upon success plans

    • Familiarity with NJ social service safety network, as well as supporting agencies

    and organizations. Familiarity with services in Union and Essex counties a plus

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – oral and written
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • A demonstrated passion for social justice and commitment to working with

    low-income communities and communities of color to advance equality

    • Experience organizing and presenting workshops
    • Ability to develop relationships and collaborate with representatives of major

    agencies that provide client services and supports

    • Valid NJ Driver’s license and use of own vehicle for self-transportation
    • Must be able to make regular commute to office in Elizabeth, NJ
    • Experience providing short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and safety

    planning

    • Experience working with immigrant communities and clients who have

    experienced significant trauma

    • Self-starter excited to be part of a small, nimble team that values collaboration
