    THE ORGANIZATION

    Tanenbaum promotes justice and builds respect for religious difference by transforming individuals and institutions to reduce prejudice, hatred, and violence.

    As a secular and non-sectarian non-profit, Tanenbaum works to promote religious peacebuilders who help counter extremism and violence in armed conflicts, and tackles religious bullying of students, harassment in workplaces, and disparate health treatment for people based on their beliefs.

    THE PROGRAM

    Tanenbaum pioneered the work in religious diversity in the workplace. We consult directly with national and international corporations, government agencies, institutions of higher learning, and leading not-for-profits on issues such as religious bias and accommodation, and train employees at all levels to develop respectful communication around religion in an increasingly diverse workforce. We provide workshops, webinars, panel discussions, policy reviews, and consultations for our client companies, in addition to conducting national surveys and other research and creating resources on religion in the workplace.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Senior Program Associate will report to the most senior members of the Workplace team and the Manager of Programs, occasionally working with the CEO.

    The Senior Associate will also liaise with other programs and departments as necessary.

    This is a full-time hybrid position at Tanenbaum. Candidates must reside in the New York City area and be available to work on site in New York as needed.

    The Senior Program Associate will be responsible for developing/leading initiatives to broaden the reach and impact of the program’s products and services (presentations, workshops, online resources), and maintaining/procuring relationships for the Tanenbaum Membership program.

    This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Conducting workshops, presentations, webinars, and other programmatic speaking engagements.
    • In consultation with the Manager of Programs and the Workplace Team, managing and expanding the Tanenbaum Membership program (recruiting new members, onboarding new members, developing and supporting long-term religious DEI strategies, engaging in continual support, responding to queries, developing and delivering trainings, ensuring annual renewals.)
    • In consultation with the Manager of Programs and the Senior Workplace Program Associates, supervising and developing Workplace Program Associates, Workplace Program Assistants, and Workplace Program Interns.
    • Supporting the planning and implementation of all programmatic events and assuming the lead on at least one of the Workplace Program’s annual events (Religious Diversity Leadership Summit and Religious Diversity Symposium).
    • Collaborating with Development to secure corporate sponsorship and partnership for Tanenbaum initiatives and events including but not limited to the Religious Diversity Leadership Summits and Peace Made Possible Gala.
    • Managing relationships with strategic partners (nonprofits, universities, D&I practitioners, Workplace Advisory Council) and developing new relationships to help the program complete its work more effectively.
    • Managing the program’s Monitoring & Evaluation initiative by reviewing key indicators with Associates and reporting annually on findings.
    • In collaboration with the Workplace Team, expanding the Workplace program by identifying, supporting, and spearheading opportunities for new initiatives.
    • Conducting ongoing research related to relevant laws, religious discrimination in the workplace, diversity and inclusion trends, organizational and professional development, etc., and ensuring that Tanenbaum’s training programs and resources are effective, up-to-date, and cutting edge.
    • Supporting Communications with updating and maintaining of Workplace resources; researching, drafting, and finalizing materials for print and online publication.
    • Administrative tasks as required.
    • Occasional travel is required, including attendance at annual Workplace program and Tanenbaum-wide events.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

    • Commitment to the mission and goals of Tanenbaum.
    • Demonstrated professional experience in one or more of the following fields: management, law, organizational development, or other related fields.
    • Background in law, diversity, intercultural communications, or human resources a plus.
    • At least 3 years’ experience in public speaking, training and/or facilitation.
    • Exceptional research, analysis, and written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
    • Highly organized and adept at multi-tasking.
    • Solution-oriented.
    • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
    • Experience with distance or online learning helpful.
    • Experience in a consulting role and client management preferred.
    • Skilled at project and people management.
    • Experience in creating and managing budgets.
    • Takes initiative.
    • Creative.
    • Team player.
    • Represent Tanenbaum and the program in a professional manner at all times.
    • Enjoy working with people and possess strong communication and motivation skills.
    • Experience in computers including internet research, Windows, MS Word, and Excel.
    • Sense of humor.

    SALARY RANGE

    $55,000-60,000 commensurate with experience
