ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: Community Coalition (CoCo) is a non-profit organization founded by now-Mayor Karen Bass that works to address social and economic conditions in South LA by providing a platform for everyday residents to fight for solutions that build up the community. Since 1990, CoCo has built a groundbreaking, community-driven approach to creating change. We elevate our members' voices, and tackle the root causes of poverty, crime, and violence. POSITION DESCRIPTION: This role serves a versatile staff leader responsible for moving and aligning the organization around key objectives tied to advancing health equity in South LA. A core pillar of this role will be leading CoCo’s partnership with the LA County Department of Public Health’s Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) initiative and other service providers in Service Planning Area 6 (SPA 6). SAPC advances efforts to reduce addiction and substance use in SPA 6/South LA by providing prevention education workshops, administering community needs assessments, and launching campaigns to galvanize everyday residents around addressing nuisance sites and land use issues that facilitate unhealthy environments and addiction. Programming and strategies include, but are not limited to: the convening, coordination and planning with the SPA 6 Coalition, the internal management of prevention staff, oversight of contracts and billing, and participation in county-wide prevention initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):

Co-Facilitate the Prevention Network Programming (20% of time):
CORE COMPETENCIES AND EXPECTATIONS: The ideal candidate will have a 3+ year track record of successfully leading health and/or prevention-focused activities and managing efforts to promote collective impact. They should have/develop a strong articulation of Community Coalition’s core values, mission, and purpose and aligns them with their conduct and representation of the organization; demonstrate an ability to provide leadership and support for larger projects/efforts with independence and impact; continue building their knowledge around the landscape and the social determinants of health impacting the community as well as,
