    Founded in 1902 as a settlement house to help New York’s increasing immigrant population adjust to life in a new country, Greenwich House today offers a variety of programs and approaches that continue to provide thousands of New Yorkers with health and wellness supports, education and personal enrichment, and skills building and cultural experiences. Greenwich House launched the Workforce Training and Resource Center in Fall 2022, which is a programming, support, and activity hub for partnerships that bring a broader array of services to the West Side. The Center focuses on curating skills training and services for adults and older adults and builds opportunities for meaningful intergenerational engagements.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Workforce Services will be responsible for the ongoing implementation of the Lifelong Skills and Opportunity Center (LSOC), and new workforce program in the West Village with a special focus on aging and older adults, while striving to support many other targeted populations. The Director will contribute to and build from strategy and planning work that has been underway. The individual is responsible for growing growth of the programs, in terms of both client participation and program offerings and support.

    Additionally, the role will advance research and learning, promotion and communications, and continuous improvement activities that support LSOC work and partnerships. This includes but is not limited to customized training for business and industry, nonprofit and government sectors; professional/career training and adult education.

    Key areas of focus will include: creating linkages and partnerships with organizations currently offering robust, evidence-based skills training and work readiness programming; building and strengthening connections across Greenwich House departments to leverage existing expertise and programming; providing administrative oversight of the Workforce and Training Center; coordinating data sharing and reporting amongst partners; and contributing to fundraising and resource development efforts to support and grow the Center. A strong candidate has successfully led workforce development initiatives and/or creative and dynamic adult/immigrant/behavioral health development programs.

    Responsibilities

    • Managing and directing the day-to-day operations of LSOC and its 4 focus areas; community partners, older adults, behavioral health recipients and undervalued individuals.
    • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external partners, incumbent will demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness to identify and secure the necessary internal and external resources to ensure efficient and effective execution of all Workforce & Training initiatives.
    • Identify and evaluate innovative strategies and solutions, experimental designs and practices and successful implementations from a variety of settings (e.g., education, business and industry and not-for profit) to support divisional and college goals and help drive continuous improvement across the program.
    • Develop strategies to cultivate and grow relationships with past, current, and potential workforce development students and partners, increasing retention, persistence, and completion.
    • Participate in executive meetings and retreats, legislative preparation, and briefings to develop departmental goals and objectives and to ensure that executive staff, subordinate staff, and state legislators are informed of workforce development issues to provide improved customer services.
    • Perform other duties assigned to ensure flexibility and adaptability to meet changing agency needs.

    Qualifications

    • Experience leading workforce development implementations and initiatives.
    • Program Management experience, including program strategizing, planning, and growth-focused work.
    • Experience managing creative and dynamic adult/immigrant/behavioral health development programs, strongly preferred.
    • Previous experience implementing and managing a startup. This would include writing, developing, reviewing, and recommending operational and administrative policies/procedures; organizational structure; staffing; personnel allocation and distribution; and budgeting.
    • Previous solution driven project management experience includes managing multiple projects at one time in a high-pressure environment.
    • Experience building relationships with community, government, philanthropic, and business community stakeholders.
    • Excellent data driven analytical, organizational, and planning skills with an ability to prioritize drive and complete multiple projects under stringent deadlines, and to respond to changing priorities is essential.
    • Proven excellence as a communicator with the ability to represent the Executive Team and Greenwich House at large with stakeholders (clients, customers, vendors, Board members, regulators, etc.).
