Tanzania Health and Community Development Initiative (THCDI) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving health, education, and community development across Tanzania. We focus on sustainable programs and initiatives that empower local communities and provide essential support, such as health equipment distribution, community outreach, and skills training. We are looking for a passionate, experienced individual to partner with us as a Volunteer Program Representative.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Volunteer Program Representative to help us expand our international volunteer base. This individual will play a crucial role in reaching out to potential volunteers, sharing THCDI’s mission, and managing the logistics of volunteer involvement. As a key partner in the volunteer recruitment process, this representative will facilitate smooth communication and contribute significantly to our impactful community development projects in Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities:

• Volunteer Recruitment and Outreach:
  • Proactively identify and reach out to potential volunteers from international networks, universities, and organizations with an interest in community development and health programs.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions and volunteer organizations to promote THCDI’s volunteer programs.
  • Organize and participate in outreach activities, webinars, and presentations to attract volunteers from various parts of the world.
• Program Coordination and Support:
  • Coordinate all aspects of volunteer involvement, including pre-arrival support (visa, travel logistics, health, safety), on-site support (orientation, accommodations, cultural immersion), and post-program engagement.
  • Ensure volunteers are matched with appropriate projects based on their skills, interests, and the needs of the community.
  • Maintain clear communication with volunteers throughout their experience, ensuring they are supported and have a fulfilling experience.
• Partner Relationship Management:
  • Build strong relationships with global organizations, agencies, and community partners that can help promote and support the volunteer program.
  • Act as a liaison between international partners and the THCDI team to ensure smooth integration of volunteers into Tanzania's local communities.
• Data Collection and Reporting:
  • Gather feedback from volunteers to assess the effectiveness of the program and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain records of volunteer participation, including successful placements, performance reviews, and ongoing engagement.
• Marketing and Promotion of Volunteer Programs:
  • Assist in developing promotional materials for the volunteer program, including brochures, online content, and social media updates.
  • Ensure THCDI’s volunteer program is widely recognized as an impactful and sustainable way to contribute to social and health initiatives in Tanzania.
  • Leverage social media and digital platforms to reach potential volunteers globally.

Requirements:

• Experience:
  • Proven experience in volunteer management, international recruitment, or community outreach programs.
  • Familiarity with global volunteer networks and the logistics of organizing international programs, including travel, accommodation, and cross-cultural communication.
  • Previous experience working in health, education, or community development sectors is an advantage.
• Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools (email, WhatsApp, Skype, social media platforms, etc.) for communication, outreach, and data tracking.
• Qualifications:
  • Degree in international development, social work, public health, or a related field is preferred.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. Additional language skills are an asset.
• Attributes:
  • A passion for social development, health improvement, and community empowerment.
  • Strong cultural sensitivity and understanding of international volunteer dynamics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
