Overview
Wondermore inspires a love of books, reading and writing for students by bringing culturally relevant authors and illustrators to Boston area schools. We envision a world in which all children have the opportunity to see themselves in the books they read and are inspired to become lifelong learners.
Through our Authors-in-Schools Program, K-12 students in Title I schools explore the writing, illustration, and publishing processes. Authors often share their unique—sometimes unexpected—journeys to creating books, inspiring students to discover and cultivate their own passions and talents. These visits are designed to foster a sense of belonging, affirming the rich racial, cultural and linguistic diversity of Boston-area communities. Each student receives an autographed copy of the author’s book.
We have established robust partnerships with Boston dual language schools and other schools that serve large numbers of English Language Learners (ELLs). We are well-positioned to expand our impact by building similar partnerships with new schools in Boston and neighboring communities. The Program Consultant will play a key role in developing new partnerships and ensuring that more students have the opportunity to engage with authors and illustrators in transformative ways.
This is a chance for someone committed to literacy and educational equity to join a small, dedicated team that has an outsized impact. The ideal candidate for this role is a dynamic team player, with a background in education and bilingual learning who is eager to contribute to a mission-driven organization.
In-person attendance is required for author visits in the Boston area and a weekly team meeting. The role requires a commitment of 15 hours per week.
We would ideally like someone to start the beginning of May but would consider the possibility of a start date of late August.
