    About the Care Farming Network and Red Wiggler Care Farm

    Care farming uses therapeutic farming to promote health, well-being and belonging. Care

    Farming Network is pioneering a movement to connect established and aspiring care farms,

    foster meaningful support, and build awareness about the transformative power of care farming.

    Care Farming Network is a program of Red Wiggler Care Farm. Founded in 1996, Red Wiggler

    is a sustainable farm where people with and without disabilities come together to work, learn,

    and grow healthy food in Germantown, Maryland. Over the past 29 years, Red Wiggler has

    developed innovative ways to engage youth and adults with and without disabilities in the

    growing and distribution of food through employment and education.

    Care Farming Network (CFN) Part-time Program Associate Description

    The CFN Program Associate will work closely with CFN’s Co-Directors to implement programs

    to support CFN’s 300+ member farms. This role will coordinate an annual CFN conference,

    hosting approximately 150 attendees, and manage key initiatives, including a regional

    mentorship program, virtual webinars, farm tours, and an online resource library. We are

    looking for a candidate with exceptional interpersonal skills and experience in event execution.

    The ideal candidate is passionate about the benefits of care farming and thrives in a role that

    blends strategic coordination with hands-on implementation. This position requires a versatile

    skill set, including managing behind-the-scenes event logistics, hosting engaging virtual

    webinars, and expanding CFN’s online resource library. Candidates must reside in DC, MD, VA,

    NY, MA, or MN, with a preference for NY or MA.

    Job responsibilities include:

    Lead the planning and execution of the annual CFN Conference (50% – approximately 10

    hours per week, increasing to 20+ hours per week during the month before, during, and

    after the event).

    • With support from CFN Directors, develop and implement conference budget and work

    plan

    • Manage online event registration and attendance using WordPress & CiviCRM
    • Provide content for website, email communications, and social media
    • Manage logistics and coordination of all vendors and farm host partnerships including

    venue, catering, shuttle transportation, and lodging contracts

    • With support from CFN staff, lead the development of the conference program, curate

    the agenda, and coordinate speaker outreach and engagement

    • Coordinate day-of logistics and in-person registration/check-in; serve as the primary

    contact onsite during the conference

    • Facilitate a participatory planning process including the conference advisory committee
    • Facilitate and ensure the conference is inclusive and accessible for neurodivergent

    participants and other participants with lived experience

    • Other planning and design tasks as needed/requested

    Develop and host learning webinars and in-person farm tours (10% - 2 hours/week )

    • Develop and host 7 one-hour virtual webinars
    • Coordinate and host 2 in-person farm tours in the Northeast Region
    • Manage online event registration and attendance using WordPress & CiviCRM
    • Provide content for website, email communications, and social media

    Expand the online resource library (15% - 3 hours/week)

    • Leverage feedback from conference and program evaluations to create valuable

    resources, including blog posts, that support and inform care farmers.

    • Grow CFN’s toolkit for care farmers by actively sourcing, evaluating, and adding new

    materials to the CFN Resource Library, including researching relevant tools, guides,

    case studies, best practices, and other educational content that support the needs and

    development of care farming practices.

    Implement pilot Northeast Mentorship Program: (10% - 2 hours/week)

    • Facilitate the pilot Mentorship program for Northeast Care Farms, benefitting people with

    intellectual and/or developmental disabilities

    • With support from CFN Directors, develop and implement a mentorship program strategy

    based on pilot mentorship participants’ evaluations

    Support CFN’s Program Strategy and Development (15% - 3 hours/week)

    • Attend virtual CFN team meetings & Red Wiggler staff meetings
    • Assist in collecting, monitoring, and reporting on program activities and measure

    outcomes against expected performance goals and objectives.

    • Work on other projects as the opportunity arises and as they are developed

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Must live in DC, MD, VA, NY, MA, or MN, with a preference for NY or MA
    • Passionate about care farming and its therapeutic benefits
    • Experience in conference planning and execution, including logistics coordination and

    speaker/volunteer management

    • Skilled in facilitating and moderating virtual meetings and workshops, using platforms

    like Zoom and Google Meets

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficient in managing websites and content management systems (CFN uses

    WordPress and CiviCRM)

    • Experienced in graphic design and marketing, using Canva and social media platforms
    • Thrives in a creative and innovative working environment
    • Strong project management skills, adept at working independently, managing deadlines,

    and collaborating with others
