    Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) seeks a passionate and creative Individual Gifts Officer to join our team to help us build key relationships that help expand our organization’s reach and achieve our goals. This position is a unique opportunity to be on the front lines of the fight for a more ethical, equitable and accountable government, while working alongside smart, creative and kind people.

    Responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Development Director, the Individual Gifts Officer will play a key role in executing a strategic fundraising and operational plan to secure a diversified portfolio of individual and major gift donors. This position will manage gifts and grants ranging from $500 - $9,999 annually, and proactively manage outreach to qualify and ultimately solicit individual prospects for gifts, or recommend prospects to other members of the team for solicitation at other appropriate gift levels. This position is ideal for a candidate who has strong relationship-building and project management skills, and experience with donor relations and communications. This role will:

    • Monitor and analyze fundraising data and make recommendations for new strategies and tactics in response to changing circumstances and unexpected opportunities.
    • Serve as a primary frontline fundraiser along with Director of Development and CREW Leadership, building donor relationships through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity.
    • Assist the Development Director in creating persuasive and compelling donor-facing materials, including marketing documents, fundraising appeals and other correspondence.
    • Collaborate with the Digital team to maintain donor databases, including but not limited to: tracking donor outreach efforts, contribution history and next steps in management.
    • Coordinate on mid-level and online donor strategy with the Development and Digital teams.
    • Coordinate with the Finance team to ensure accurate receipt, recording, and acknowledgement of individual donor gifts.
    • Research and identify opportunities for engagement with prospective donors
    • Plan and execute in-person and virtual fundraising events, briefings, and meetings in Washington, D.C., and nationwide.
    • Assist in developing collateral materials and briefing documents for donor meetings with CREW Leadership.
    • Develop and implement a process for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on CREW’s donations, including maintaining and building individual donor lists.
    • Occasionally assist with CREW-sponsored receptions and fundraising events.

    Qualifications:

    • 3-4 years of experience working on a political campaign or in a nonprofit environment focused on fundraising and donor engagement.
    • Proven track record soliciting and closing gifts of at least $10,000.
    • Experience moving donors through a donor continuum from low dollar to high dollar giving, with a focus on individual donors and foundation grants a must.
    • Experience with securing planned gifts preferred but not required.
    • Enthusiasm for, and comfort with, contacting and interacting with donors and prospects.
    • Existing relationships with democracy / open government related organizations prioritized but not required.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
    • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
    • Experience and comfort with Constituent Relationship Management tools, including but not limited to EveryAction and Salesforce.
    • The position is based in Washington, D.C. but will be hybrid with employees splitting their time between working at home and working in the office.
    • The position may require occasional travel, including on weekends, and attendance at events outside of normal office hours.

    The salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000 based on experience and qualifications.
