    The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) is an independent, international, nonprofit organization devoted to the advancement of interdisciplinary research in the social sciences through a wide variety of workshops and conferences, fellowships and grants, summer training institutes, scholarly exchanges, research, and publications.     Since 1995, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has supported graduate students (“Sloan Scholars”) in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers through scholarship support, and in more recent years, through grants to individual universities that provide scholar cohorts with robust mentorship, professional development, and community support. These efforts include the University Centers of Exemplary Mentoring, Sloan Indigenous Graduate Partnership, and Sloan Centers for Systemic Change initiatives. The Sloan Scholars Mentoring Network (SSMN) promotes the career advancement of Sloan Scholar alumni by providing professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities. The SSMN currently serves as the alumni network for over 1,800 Sloan Scholar graduates.

    The SSRC is seeking a program assistant to support administrative duties and program operations related to the SSMN, including communications with Sloan Scholars, event coordination, and database and financial management. The program assistant will work collaboratively with the Program Director and SSRC and SSMN program staff on all activities and will strongly contribute to initiatives that serve the entire scholar program and alumni network.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • High level of proficiency in all MS Office applications as well as database and internet applications
    • Superior organizational skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily activities to meet competing deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • High level of proficiency with communications technology and social media
    • Ability and willingness to travel to conferences and events

    Preferred:

    • Experience with website maintenance or CRM platforms
    • Experience in maintaining expense accounts and budgeting
    • Experience in data entry and database queries
    • Experience working with Black, Latinx/a/o, or Indigenous communities or students

    Responsibilities

    • Support program staff with the overall administration of the program
    • Process payments to scholars, vendors, and program partners
    • Provide logistical support for virtual and in-person conferences, workshops, and meetings
    • Serve as a primary contact for program-related questions and correspondence
    • Manage database and electronic files for scholars
    • Assist with the creation and posting of social media content
    • Manage program calendars
    • Write and distribute meeting notes
    • Maintain website and listserv
    • Assist with maintaining a scholar database and capturing program outputs and metrics

    Terms, Salary, and Benefits

    Annual salary is $50,000. Comprehensive benefits include health, dental, vision, disability, life, and gym reimbursement; $1,500 annual tuition and/or student loan reimbursement; outstanding pension plan and tax savings programs; generous vacation and sick leave; and more.

    This position begins on or after February 1, 2025.
