California Primary Care Association's mission is to lead and position community clinics, health centers and networks through advocacy, education, and services as key players in the healthcare delivery system to improve the health status of their communities.
Purpose of Position:
The Director of Value Based Care (VBC) is a leadership position within the Health Center Optimization and Legal Affairs department tasked with leading initiatives that enhance the practice transformation capabilities of community health centers to respond to value-based care demands. This role is responsible for creating and deploying training, education, and technical assistance to health centers and consortia on high-impact, whole-person care models that improve health outcomes and promote value-based care. The position will directly coach multi-disciplinary teams of health center professionals (including quality improvement staff, clinical professionals, ancillary support staff, and administrators) on strategies for improving the care experience and clinical outcomes for health center populations of focus.
The Director of VBC interfaces regularly with Association leadership (including senior and executive staff and Committee and Board members) and fosters productive relationships with external stakeholders, including partners within philanthropy, non-profits, and state government.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, healthcare administration, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of four years of management experience and experience within the healthcare field, specifically in coaching multi-disciplinary health center teams on practice improvement, value-based care, and the quadruple aim. Experience with community health centers, member-driven associations or non-profit organizations is also preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
Association Expectation:
Due to network security and hybrid work this position requires the employee to have a cell phone with a data plan and home internet service, both are reimbursed at a set rate each month. All hires are required to maintain residence in California. This is a hybrid position with employees coming into the office in downtown Sacramento.
