    KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio is Seattle’s NPR news station.     We have an outstanding opportunity for a Revenue Accountant (Accountant 2) to manage all incoming revenue to properly allocate and reconcile to various GLs. This position must interpret moderately complex accounting functions such as evaluating regular and recurring financial transactions, investigating discrepancies and streamlining reconciliation processes.

    Key responsibilities of this role include recording and reconciling changes in our accounting systems and maintaining general ledger and subledger records and other revenue-related transactions. Additionally, they handle daily revenue entries, create financial reports, preparing month-end closing entries, and maintaining accurate revenue documentation.

    JOB SUCCESS SUMMARY

    A successful Revenue Accountant will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, diverse work environment, supporting KUOW staff in their financial needs. Ideally, the Revenue Accountant will have a solid base knowledge of relevant GAAP principles, the ability to think critically to interpret moderately complex accounting functions, and possess enthusiasm to learn and grow.

    Collaboration and outstanding customer service are keys to building and supporting the internal and external relationships critical to this role’s success. Also essential is the ability to balance responding to daily incoming revenue streams with a focus on longer-term “always audit-ready” improvement projects, as well as skills in managing time effectively, working independently, and taking initiative.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. Analysis and Reconciliations (35%)

    • Perform complex analysis to reconcile dynamic accounts across databases and accounting system:
    • Reconcile changes of JVs, subledger, salesforce data, hard and soft credits Receive all station revenue daily and enter in the general ledger. Revenue arrives in the form of checks, EFTs, credit card transactions, bank deposits, e-checks, Workday, retail lockbox, and cash. Annual revenue total is in excess of $20 million. Most revenue transactions consist of many small-figure amounts. Adhere to GAAP accounting principles in processing transactions.
    • Review bank records, research context regarding ambiguous activity, and rectify all revenue transactions.
    • Collaborate with data teams to reconcile salesforce donations subledger to within an annual allowable variance of $250 or less.
    • Synthesize prior transactions for Car donation fees, Eventbrite, stock depreciation or appreciation gifts and post in the general ledger.
    • Create and calculate underwriting financial records based on affiliate partner fee structures.
    • Disaggregate bank statements for reconciliation, extract investment account transactions, EFTs, bank deposits, credit cards, stripe, PayPal, E-checks, Pay Now, underwriting payments, Lockbox, and UW donations.
    • Create month end closing entries by preparing journal vouchers reflecting underwriting, philanthropy, CEF revenue, UBIT accruals, UW Support, Fidelity, and Seattle Foundation Accruals.
    • Prepare station’s cash and revenue summaries for director’s review.
    • Allocate revenue to suspense account and review periodically for reconciliation.
    • Settle foreign currency transactions (Canadian dollar gifts), update appropriate ledgers.
    • Approve and record UW invoices for submission through Workday journal vouchers submitted from traffic department to apply payment to corresponding vendors.
    • Enter and reconcile our subledger business support payments along with billing adjustments, client credits and agency fees to our general ledger account balances monthly.

    II. Accounts Receivable (A/R) (25%)

    • Correspond with clients, prepare monthly statements, collect debts, record payments and create payment plans.
    • Prepare and send statements to business support staff regarding underwriters account status.
    • Investigate merchant payments that do not conform to with KUOW accounts receivable standards.
    • Receive non-revenue payments from NPR or other news agents, pass through and record appropriately. · Maintain all applicable revenue documentation for audits and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
    • Coordinate with Operations department, create invoices for 3rd party use of KUOW studio space and collect payments.
    • Prepare documentation to write off delinquent client debts.
    • Perform complex analysis following fundraising drives, using pledge documentation to compile conditional opportunities or restricted revenue reports, allocate funds to appropriate income or receivable accounts, and track funds for donor records.
    • Record and classify grants and large gifts to outstanding donor receivables with the proper ledger accounts in accounting systems and databases. · Send Pay Now pre-payment requests through our credit card portal for underwriting payments.

    III. Daily Revenue (25%)

    • Accept PayPal grants in third party database due to sensitive information, send internal emails to all revenue departments and presenting incoming grants, their respective asks and any formal grant letters.
    • Prepare the scanning of the checks to input into our bank account, check for errors in amounts and payees, input payments for invoices into Marketron before deposit to ensure accuracy for any duplicate payments.
    • Review daily EFT deposits and extract donations to input into salesforce batches, investigate any unknown deposits by calling the bank and/or asking our revenue departments, research any returned/bounced donation or underwriter checks and enter third party station story revenue into salaries payable.
    • Enter four main credit card transactions daily and input any chargebacks and/or returns into salesforce, assess any fees associated; ensure third party depositers like Lockbox is depositing checks addressed to us and extract the occasional underwriter payment in those deposits.
    • Compile recurring deposits like e-checks, stripe and paypal to reconcile at the end of the month by calculating gross, net and bank/agency fees.
    • Enter daily financial desktop transactions from Workday including UW payroll donations and/or stock, pulls gift data download report to enter donor names into salesforce; investigates any discrepancies in both reports.

    IV. Process Improvements (5%)

    • Update revenue SOP and implement process improvements to respond to changes in record keeping and reporting procedures in accordance with GAAP.
    • Evaluate and analyze reports for credit card fees and billing adjustments, make recommendations on how best to streamline and reconcile these transactions.
    • Prepare month-end revenue JVs to be reviewed and posted by other finance teammates to reduce need for adjustments.
    • Analyze, recommend and update procedures to improve work efficiency and accuracy.
    • Implement new Workday reporting tools and databases to resolve Workday discrepancies and/or updates.

    V. Other duties as assigned (10%)

    • Attend and participate in department or organization meeting trainings.
    • May back up other members of the Finance department as needed.
    • Support internal station initiatives.
    • File King County Employee Giving Program Application in support of fundraising.
    • Prepare Business Support totals for Schedule A of the Annual Financial Report to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
    • Serve as Notary Public for KUOW
