Description
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Community Relationships, the Community Liaison for Northeast Missouri serves as the Foundation’s presence in that region, representing the Foundation to diverse audiences within communities, contributing to key community initiatives, and bringing knowledge of communities’ cultures, history, values, and landscape to bear in Foundation decisions at all levels.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of assigned communities, contribute expert knowledge of specified communities’ cultures, health trends, values, perspectives, and priorities to Foundation strategy and decision-making
- Serve as a thought partner for various Foundation teams to uplift rural community perspective into strategy and decision-making
- Serve as an ambassador for the Foundation by developing and maintaining Foundation visibility in assigned communities, proactively serving as a contact for a wide range of community organizations and leaders whose interests intersect with MFH’s strategies
- Participate in key meetings, task forces, and events to strengthen and support community efforts to coalesce and form strategic alliances that address health, social, and economic inequality in assigned communities
Essential Outcomes
- The Foundation’s strategy and decision-making conversations will benefit from a nuanced understanding of various communities’ cultures, histories, values, and health landscapes
- The Foundation will be aware of communities’ priorities and that knowledge will be utilized to identify opportunities to improve health and well-being
- Community partners will have a deeper understanding of the Foundation’s mission, values, role, and strategy
- Key community leaders will see the Foundation as a valued thought partner, inviting the Community Liaison to be part of important community conversations
- Connections will be facilitated between community members and organizations with aligned interests, as well as with additional Foundation staff members, along with regional and national partners, as appropriate
Other Duties
- Participates in team activities and completes diverse assignments in support of team goals
- Performs general Foundation support activities and carries out special projects as required
- Adheres to the Foundation’s core and staff values
- Travels 50% of the time within specified area, and travels to the main MFH St. Louis office for periods of time.

Education and Experience
Minimum levels of education and experience:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; some higher education considered a plus
- Experience: Five or more years of relevant work experience, including demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional networks and facilitate meaningful conversations in community settings
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to effectively utilize standard technology applications
