Role and Responsibilities
The Peer Educators are integral members of our team who provide specialized supportive services in support of our grant-funded programs. This client-facing role works collaboratively with our staff and clients to encourage engagement in care and support adherence to defined treatment goals by providing individual and group-based client-centered coaching.Peer Educators assist with administrative tasks, patient support, and outreach, attend Department of Health training and outreach, attend Department of Health training, and provide educational services dependent on program requirements and deliverables. Peer Educators interact with a wide variety of diverse populations, such as but not limited to LGBTQIA+, Immigrants, Black and Brown People of Color, People Living with HIV, and Substance Users. Peer Educators should be knowledgeable about HIV/STI prevention and treatment, PrEP, PEP, Community Engagement, social media, and Dating Apps. Additionally, Peers provide support during community engagement activities such as Health Fairs, Resource Fairs, HIV Testing events, etc. HIPAA Compliant Position and must adhere to all confidentiality policies as outlined by Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.
