    Descrição

    Job description:

Raise The Barr is a 2Gen program led by a 2Gen team on a mission to maximize the potential of every individual.

Co-Founded by NFL linebacker Anthony Barr and his mother Lori Barr in 2016, Raise The Barr is committed to increasing opportunity and economic mobility for single-parent students in Minnesota and California by providing them with the holistic resources they need to complete their education, including resources they need for their children to thrive. Promoting college success among student-parents is critical to improving racial, ethnic, and gender equity in higher education access.

Raise The Barr places single-parent students at the center of our work, and as such identifies every opportunity to elevate their voices in advocacy work and to advise the leadership team.

    Position Summary

You will collaborate with and report to the Managing Director of Whole Family Programming and work with the remote Whole Family Program team, including one local colleague, to develop and implement innovative programs for families living in subsidized housing. The ideal candidate is passionate about community building, empowering families, and fostering equitable access to resources and opportunities. They excel indirect engagement with families, leading workshops and community events, and providing 1-on-1 mentoring and financial empowerment coaching. They are proactive, empathetic, and committed to supporting families in achieving long-term stability and success.

This role involves engaging with families to understand and support their unique needs, hosting workshops and community gatherings to connect them with essential resources, and guiding them toward achieving their personal and financial goals. You will be a creative and critical thinker, comfortable working in a dynamic environment where innovation and adaptability are key. The work may be fast-paced at times as we strive to create impactful opportunities and respond in real time to the needs of families in our program.

This is a hybrid position that includes both virtual and in-person programming. While the role is primarily remote, this role requires regular in-person engagement as needed to support families and facilitate programming. There may be non-traditional hours during evenings and weekends to accommodate scholars' schedules, RTB’s monthly workshops, and special events. We offer some flexibility in scheduling to offset these non-traditional work hours.

    Responsibilities

    • Mentor single-parent students in monthly one-on-one meetings.
    • Coach scholars to help identify individual strengths and set goals to move the household towards economic self-sufficiency.
    • Plan and host workshops, community events, and gatherings to connect families to resources and build their network.
    • Manage multiple assignments with shifting and time-sensitive deadlines.
    • Carry a caseload of up to 10 program participants.
    • Maintain comprehensive and accurate caseload documentation in electronic databases
    • Leverage data to generate reports and presentations for stakeholders, taking a lead role in analyzing and delivering key findings.
    • Engage with RTB scholars through regular, strength-based communication and serve as an enthusiastic local ambassador in the community.
    • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure all messaging about RTB’s work and scholars is strength-based, respectful, and culturally sensitive.
    • Exercise sound judgment and effective communication in interactions, seeking support as needed.
    • Participate in weekly and monthly team meetings.
    • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree (Social Work, Counseling/Psychology, Education preferred) or equivalent experience.
    • 2+ years of experience working with families facing poverty.

    Essential Skills:

    • Commitment to educational equity for single parents and families in subsidized housing, focusing on empowerment and resource connection.
    • Proven ability to advise individuals and groups on complex community issues.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing diverse challenges.
    • Initiative and excellent organizational skills for managing home visits and events.
    • Cultural sensitivity to engage with families from diverse backgrounds.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and willingness to learn new software.
    • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Confidence in navigating uncertainty as programs expand.
    • Composure and focus in seeking clarity and solutions.

    Preferred:

    • Existing connections to community resources.
    • Experience with remote work.
    • Lived experience relevant to this role is valued.
