    Description

    Join The Doe Fund on our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and recidivism. Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $73 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs.

    The Doe Fund seeks a Vice President of RWA@Home to launch and lead our new program initiative, which will integrate the successful workforce development model of RWA into The Doe Fund’s permanent housing portfolio. The VP will design, implement, and manage this innovative pilot program, which aims to help hundreds of individuals residing in permanent, affordable, and supportive housing secure meaningful employment and achieve greater independence.

    This is a unique opportunity to drive systemic change by expanding employment and training services into affordable housing residences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workforce development, housing, and program management, with a proven track record of designing and delivering impactful social services.

    Responsibilities:

    • Program Leadership and Development:
      • Oversee the creation and implementation of the RWA@Home program to bring workforce development services to The Doe Fund’s permanent housing residents.
      • Lead the development of strategic goals, operational plans, and performance metrics for the initiative.
      • Collaborate with the existing VP of Workforce Development & VP of Supportive Housing to adapt RWA's transitional workforce model to the unique needs of affordable and supportive housing residents.
      • Ensure program scalability, replicability, and alignment with The Doe Fund’s mission.
    • Team Management:
      • Build and manage a multidisciplinary team
      • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to program staff.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration:
      • Collaborate with The Doe Fund’s leadership team and external partners to ensure program success.
      • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and state government agencies, nonprofit organizations, funders, and other stakeholders.
      • Serve as a key spokesperson for the RWA@Home initiative and promote the program’s impact across various platforms.
    • Program Evaluation and Expansion:
      • Design and oversee the pilot program’s evaluation framework to measure outcomes and impact.
      • Develop strategies for program expansion, aiming to scale up from 50 residents in year one to 300 or more by the end of five years.
      • Develop and implement effective strategies for successful job placement of program participants, using benchmarking to identify and apply best practices in the field.
      • Utilize evaluation data to continuously improve the program and inform best practices for workforce development in permanent housing settings.
    • Funding and Budget Management:
      • Work closely with the External Affairs Department to lead efforts to secure catalytic funding for the pilot and manage the program’s budget.
      • Work with funders and the development team to communicate program needs and successes.
      • Ensure efficient use of resources and fiscal accountability.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in workforce development, housing, or human services, with at least 2 years in a leadership role required.
    • Proven track record of designing and scaling programs that serve individuals facing employment barriers, such as homelessness, criminal justice involvement, or substance use disorder.
    • Experience working within affordable or supportive housing environments is highly preferred.
    • Demonstrated expertise in program evaluation, strategic planning, and budget management.
    • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, including experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
