    Descrição

Executive Director Position @ The Body Positive

    Mission:

The Body Positive teaches people to listen to their bodies, learn from them, and thrive. Since 1996, we have helped people of all ages develop resilience against appearance-based discrimination, body dissatisfaction, and eating disorders by sharing practical, life-long tools that build self-compassion, sustainable self-care behaviors, and positive connection with others.

A note from Founding Executive Director on the ideal candidate:

As the founding Executive Director, I’m most excited to pass the torch on to someone who truly understands the depth of The Body Positive’s work. For 30 years, we have been changing the lives of children, teens, and young adults so they can support themselves throughout their lives with self-compassion, sustainable self-care behaviors, and positive connections with others, and move through the world from a place of intuitive power.

The ideal candidate has a passion for making The Body Positive (TBP) thrive by seeking out and nurturing new partnerships with individual donors, grant-making organizations, and sponsors, and with schools and youth organizations that can implement our programs directly to the youth they serve.

The ideal candidate is someone who believes in and loves communicating about our programs, purpose, and successes with current and potential supporters and with our followers and the general public, through speaking, writing, social media, etc.

They are willing to roll up their sleeves to take on any work that needs to be done to make the organization succeed. They are organized, love problem solving ways to make the organization more efficient and effective, and enjoy the process of exploring the founding ED’s brain to uncover connections and institutional knowledge that they can use to expand the reach of TBP.

They are self-motivated and filled with thoughts about ways in which the organization can become more successful, and how TBP’s programs, as well as relationships with clients, funders, and the public, can be more effective in communicating the power of the work we do. They understand the passion of the founding ED, and understand the dedication and sacrifices she made to keep TBP going. They are happy to be patient and kind during the transfer of power.

If this sounds like you, continue to read below for the details of the position, and apply!

This Executive Director position is unique in that the person will be taking over for the founder of The Body Positive, who has done every task under the sun in her ED role to ensure The Body Positive stayed alive. It is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraising and communications professional, with a preference for an individual who is experienced in all facets of non-profit development and possesses a startup frame of mind.

The position will support the transition of the founding Executive Director to a part-time role as Director of Training and Curriculum Development. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable taking over financial oversight, fundraising, and strategic communications and outreach, as well as management of staff and consultants. Fundraising activities include growing institutional support and managing revenues from institutional funders, corporate and individual donors, and special events. The new ED will take on the responsibility of building relationships and representing TBP externally with funders and nonprofit allies.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to take over and improve existing development efforts, while building up the organization using fundraising best practices. The ideal candidate will implement high-level strategy through hands-on implementation while building relationships and networking, and managing communications and outreach. They will take over the tasks of current ED, including but not limited to, fundraising, outreach and communications, creating budgets, working with the board of directors, press interviews, renewing continuing education accreditations, and financial oversight.

This position will require working closely with the founding ED during the process of learning about the organization’s history and existing systems and practices, and transferring institutional knowledge.

The ideal candidate will be aligned with the organization’s values and previous accomplishments while building on its success to create a sustainable, productive future to ensure the goals of its mission. They will be excited and motivated to take The Body Positive where it needs to go next, and will bring in new ideas to expand the work to help children, teens, and young adults live their lives with peace, authenticity, and holistic physical and mental health.
