Senior Director of Supportive Housing

Join The Doe Fund on our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and recidivism. Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $73 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs.

In alignment with its mission, The Doe Fund also operates over 500 units of affordable and supportive housing, with over 700 additional units in the pipeline to become operational over the next 2 years. The successful candidate will have experience managing supportive housing programs, including strong clinical skills and knowledge of New York City and State funding sources.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist Vice President of Supportive Housing with oversight of supportive housing programs
• Ensure compliance with funding sources including HASA, DOHMH, HRA, HPD, ESSHI and DHS
• Provide regular supervision to program directors and clinical staff
• Evaluate programmatic needs and service delivery within the supportive housing programs and develop enhancements and services as they relate to consumers’ recovery and self sufficiency
• Conduct internal audits and quality assurance checks to ensure timely and accurate completion and submission of all required documentation
• Monitor unit vacancies within the supportive housing programs and work with the appropriate departments on filling them in a timely manner
• Participate in hiring, supervision, and evaluation of clinical and management staff
• Review and complete various reports
• Participate in case conferences and conflict resolution meetings to address and resolve consumer and/or staff conflicts as needed
• Identify, evaluate, and establish service linkages with community-based providers
• Serve as the backup to the Vice President of Supportive Housing
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a relevant field
• At least 7 years of experience supervising staff, including program directors
• Experience in managing supportive housing programs for special population
• Experience with harm reduction and motivational interviewing techniques
• Strong leadership skills, including outstanding organizational and time management skills
• Sensitivity to community issues and needs
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong ethical standards, confidentiality and personal integrity
• Computer proficiency (i.e., email, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
