    WHO WE ARE:

    The MassHire Metro North Workforce Board (MNWB) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates at the intersection of the public and nonprofit sectors, in a quasi-governmental capacity within the statewide MassHire system. Our mission is to develop partnerships, generate resources, and advocate for workforce solutions that result in a skilled workforce, prospering businesses, and equitable access to meaningful career pathways and quality employment for residents. The MNWB is one of 16 local Workforce Development Boards established in Massachusetts covering 20 cities and towns north of Boston. The functions of MNWB include the following:

    • Addressing business’ workforce needs through strategic partnership building
    • Coordinating local workforce activities with economic development strategies
    • Developing industry-specific consortia focusing on strategic planning and implementation
    • Establishing workforce development policy for the region
    • Chartering career center operators and overseeing career centers
    • Matching the needs of business for skilled employees with training opportunities in the area
    • Assessing the effectiveness of the local workforce system
    • Administering federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds for the region

    The Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium (NAMC) is a multi-regional, multi-sectoral consortium that was started as an initiative among four workforce investment boards (Metro North, North Shore, Greater Lowell, and Merrimack Valley) to form a partnership among industry, academia, and workforce development to promote sustained support for manufacturing within the Northeast of Massachusetts.     JOB TITLE: Senior Director, Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium (NAMC)

    THE OPPORTUNITY:

    The Senior Director for NAMC is responsible for overseeing and leading the program operations, staff, and strategic plan of the Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium. The Senior Director will oversee the implementation of NAMC’s grant-funded programs; build relationships with NAMC’s partners, including community colleges, career and technical education schools, community-based organizations, MassHire Career Centers, and manufacturing businesses; supervise NAMC staff; prepare funding proposals; oversee NAMC’s budget; and work with the four workforce board directors in the NAMC region to develop and implement a NAMC strategic plan. The Senior Director is expected to make high-level decisions, resolve conflicts, and drive NAMC organizational priorities.

    The Senior Director is an employee of MassHire Metro North Workforce Board (MHMNWB), as are four other NAMC staff who the Senior Director will directly supervise. Within the MHMNWB structure, NAMC is one of four “teams,” with the others being Workforce Development, Strategy and Impact, and Fiscal. The Senior Director will report directly to the President and CEO of MHMNWB. As NAMC is a four-region partnership, the Senior Director will also be responsible for working and partnering with the workforce board directors in the other three NAMC regions (Greater Lowell, Merrimack Valley, and North Shore) as well as their staffs and Career Centers.

    This is a hybrid position that requires regular, in-person work and travel throughout Massachusetts. The selected candidate must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    Program Operations and Partnerships

    • Oversee program operations of various NAMC-led training programs which include pre-employment, incumbent, and apprenticeship programs.
    • Lead ongoing NAMC and related partnership discussions to promote job-driven manufacturing sector strategies and career pathways development.
    • Lead employer engagement activities to develop business partnerships, internship and job opportunities.
    • Convey manufacturing employers’ workforce needs to career centers, community colleges, vocational schools, and other partners so that education and training programs are aligned with industry needs and a sustainable talent pipeline.
    • Drive the refinement of NAMC operations and ensure alignment with the workforce needs of businesses and partners to achieve measurable outcomes.
    • Collaborate with the four workforce board directors in the NAMC region to develop and implement a NAMC strategic plan.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Grants Management and Resource Development

    • Oversee NAMC’s budget and work with MHMNWB fiscal staff in tracking budgets and making revisions as necessary.
    • Manage the lifecycle of grant-funded projects, including compliance, reporting, and ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget
    • Lead/supervise NAMC programs and NAMC staff and work effectively with other partner staff to ensure strong collaboration in the accomplishment of NAMC contractual and development targets.
    • Identify and take the lead in developing grants and other funding opportunities.
    • Prepare funding proposals and reports.
    • Maintain and upkeep accounts, contacts, grant opportunities, and correspondence with funding entities within the MHMNWB’s Salesforce platform and any other funder-required databases.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Team Development and Management

    • Provide leadership, direction, and professional development to the NAMC staff.
    • Ensure clarity in roles and responsibilities for NAMC staff and create avenues for their growth and engagement.
    • Mentor and cultivate the growth of NAMC staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and impact, anchoring it in the organization’s values.
    • Set, monitor, and assess staff performance goals, including defining objectives, establishing priorities, and conducting performance evaluations.
    • Actively participate as a key member of the organization’s supervisory and management team.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

    • Ability to engage company leaders as working partners and influence company, college, and school leadership to align them with initiatives
    • Extensive knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
    • Experience with grant writing and fundraising/development.
    • Experience with developing and tracking budgets.
    • Experience supervising multiple staff across different programs.
    • Ability to listen and understand manufacturers’ workforce and other related needs.
    • Ability to develop and communicate manufacturing workforce solutions.
    • Ability to collaborate on the development and achievement of common objectives.
    • Solid writing, speaking, and teamwork skills.
    • Experience with MS Office and utilization of social media tools.
    • Ability to travel throughout Massachusetts.
    • Has a deep personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
    • The most qualified candidates might have experience with:
      1. Developing, managing, and growing partnerships with various entities including businesses, government, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions.
      2. Working in manufacturing and familiarity with current manufacturing technologies.
      3. Leading teams in a nonprofit/governmental setting.
      4. Salesforce and other data platforms.
      5. Developing and preparing funding proposals.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:
