The Social Media and Digital Communications Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our social media strategy and digital communications. This role requires a creative, strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail and at least 8-10 years of experience in nonprofit social media management; a proven track record of strategic social media growth; and expertise in digital content development, analytics, and website content management systems (CMS).

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Social Media Strategy, Engagement, and Analytics: Develop and execute the Museum’s social media strategy to ensure it aligns with our mission and engages our target audience across platforms. This includes building and managing an editorial calendar and monitoring and responding to audience interactions, building relationships, and fostering a sense of community among followers. Use content analytics tools to track performance metrics, analyze engagement trends, and provide insights to refine strategies and report on impact.

Digital Content Creation: Develop, create, and publish high-quality, consistent, and engaging content across social media and email platforms to effectively promote the Museum’s mission and programs. This includes conceptualizing and executing creative campaigns that resonate with our target audiences and drive engagement. Oversee the monthly creation, development, and publication of the Museum’s electronic newsletters, as well as any ad-hoc email communications efforts.

Trend Monitoring and Research: Stay informed about social media and digital communications trends, tools, and best practices to ensure our strategies remain innovative and impactful. Conduct research that supports institutional communications and outreach, including programs, digital engagement, audience development, and partnerships. Provide monthly reports on performance and prepare quarterly presentations to leadership on trends and results.

Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and partners to ensure consistent messaging and support for initiatives, programs, campaigns, events, and partnerships. Develop and lead internal discussions for reporting to team members and partners on what is working.

Website Management: Manage website updates to ensure that content is current, engaging, and reflective of our mission, programs, and resources.

Other: General communications duties, as assigned.

    • At least 8-10 years of experience in social media and digital communications in roles of increasing responsibility within a nonprofit or similar setting, demonstrating a proven track record of strategic growth.
    • Strong expertise in creating mission-driven social media content and campaigns; understands how to effectively engage digital audiences through storytelling and story sharing.
    • Strong expertise and proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite), social media analytics, and performance measurement, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights for strategy enhancement.
    • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with an exceptional attention to detail, brand voice consistency, and ability to adapt writing for various audiences and stakeholders.
    • Experience with digital marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact) and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), as light graphic design will be required. Video editing experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of current best practices in digital marketing and social media.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
