JOB SUMMARY:
The National Office of Social Services & Public Policy is the leading resource and unified voice of The Salvation Army USA territories in social service and public policy matters of common interest. The department works to establish The Salvation Army as a leading authority on holistic poverty alleviation by: providing the field well-informed, efficient and effective advocacy, assistance and resources for social services and programs; serving as a respected peer within professional networks; engaging federal policymakers in The Salvation Army’s fight against poverty; being a known and trusted resource to the federal government; and increasing public awareness of The Salvation Army’s social impact worldwide.
The Program Manager heads up ongoing internal projects as well as external collaborations and projects that serve to improve the National Social Services & Public Policy Section’s support of the four territories in the provision of resources in fulfillment of Salvation Army mission social service programming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Works to ascertain the breadth, depth and scope of Salvation Army mission social service programming in the four territories. This includes creating and managing a national mission social service programming database/repository and creating and managing a mechanism for communications between National Headquarters and the four territories to create and update a comprehensive detailed list of social services and programs within the four territories.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, preferably with a focus on human services, or other related fields.
Familiarity of The Salvation Army’s mission, organizational structure, and operations is highly preferred.
Ability to perform analytical writing, prepare and present briefings and reports.
Three years of experience performing a wide variety of administrative and technical support work preferably in the Social Services sector.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and support of The Salvation Army mission and philosophy with specific support of both spiritual and social program activities.
Significant knowledge of Salvation Army programs.
Ability to integrate and interpret data from various sources in a concise manner, and to plan, develop, and present reports.
Highly self-motivated, with organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to obtain and maintain effective and professional relationships and work collaboratively with key stakeholder groups, such as NHQ staff, Salvation Army territorial staff and external professional affiliates.
Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple deadline projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.
Demonstrated track record of working well within a team setting.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge and experience in the use of Mailchimp.
