    Rising Hope Mission Church (United Methodist) is a safe place where you can gain spiritual and physical sustenance. We have several worship opportunities available and offer assistance through our Food Market, Rising Hope Kitchen, Hope Closet, Hypothermia Shelter, and countless other need-based services.

    The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the lead on training and managing volunteers. This position works with staff to determine volunteer needs, partners to recruit volunteers and works to ensure the experience is useful and pleasant for both Rising Hope and the volunteer. This position reports directly to the Community Outreach Coordinator.

    This position is part-time with the potential to move to full-time.

    Volunteer Coordinator Job Duties:

    • Maintain a culture that exemplifies Rising Hope’s core tenets of creating a loving and inclusive environment for all persons.
    • Exemplify the standards necessary to lead within a faith community environment.
    • Work with the team to determine ongoing volunteer needs.
    • Support Rising Hope mission and outreach areas with recruiting, training, coordinating, and supporting volunteers (e.g., Food Market, Drop-In Center, Kitchen, Drivers, Worship).
    • Serve as a member of the Rising Hope Outreach team and collaborate on outreach strategy and volunteer recruitment guided by the Community Outreach Coordinator.
    • Research events for volunteer recruitment and attend events as directed by the Community Outreach Coordinator.
    • Conduct regularly scheduled group onboarding events (in-person or virtual) for volunteers to understand general Rising Hope policies and procedures and various volunteer continuing education.
    • Work with department staff to determine the volunteer assignments to their specific work areas.
    • Support department staff to secure volunteers during shortages.
    • Be the lead for one-off volunteer groups (e.g., church groups, civic organizations)
    • Manage digital platforms for volunteer information/data and supply relevant reports for appropriate departments as requested.
    • Plan and lead ongoing volunteer appreciation and support for retention.
    • Conduct regular evaluations with volunteers to improve the experience for both the volunteer and the staff. Supply pertinent information to Department Staff.
    • Maintain Master Schedule for Rising Hope Volunteers with assistance from Department Staff for daily operation.
    • Assist in maintaining accurate Volunteer procedures and manuals.

    Work Hours:

    • Part-Time/Hourly: 9:30am to 2:30 pm Monday-Friday. Some weekend and evening hours may be necessary. Hours may be flexed for events approved by the Community Outreach Coordinator.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Experience in onboarding and managing volunteers
    • Detail oriented
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Willing to work some evenings and weekends for volunteer or organizational events as needed
    • Strong customer service attitude
    • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines
    • Knowledge of appropriate software including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
    • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
    • Must be able to pass a background check in order to recruit and supervise student volunteers

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

    • Experience working in volunteer databases
