    Founded in Summit, New Jersey, in 1988, Family Promise is the leading national nonprofit addressing the crisis of family homelessness. From prevention services to emergency shelter, stabilization supports, and permanent housing, we ensure families have access to critical resources to achieve lasting housing independence.     Family Promise seeks a Director of Programs who is committed to leading national programming to prevent and end family homelessness. This newly created position will provide in-depth support and coaching to the national network of Family Promise sites regarding core programming of prevention, shelter and emergency services, stabilization, and housing. The person in this role will serve as the primary trainer to the network of approximately 200 affiliate sites and will focus on scaling the organization’s programs, ensuring best-in-class program quality. This role will also help to ensure we incorporate the voices of those with lived homelessness experience into our program design. The Director of Programs will be well versed in the issues our families and Affiliates face and will use evidence-based practices to create, implement, and evaluate programming.

    This position's contributions to the organization's success:

    Design and implement programs:

    • Develop and implement quality training programs and materials to support Affiliates to launch and expand core programs
    • Create program content that may include in-person trainings, webinars, online curriculum, and toolkits
    • Ensure all programming is rooted in Family Promise's core values of equity and sustained impact; is trauma-informed; subscribes to housing first principles; and incorporates evidenced-based practices
    • Ensure the voices of those with lived homelessness experience are incorporated into program design and implementation at the national and affiliate level
    • Assist with compilation of program statistics, and monitoring of program evaluation and effectiveness

    Oversee and manage programmatic investment cohorts (grants):

    • Serve as the lead for the programmatic investments (grants) to Affiliates.
    • Provide training and support
    • Oversee the outcomes and tracking

    The ideal candidate will have the following experience and abilities:

    • Commitment to preventing and ending family homelessness
    • Minimum of 5-8 years of professional experience in program development and implementation, ideally in the homelessness or housing sector or adjacent basic needs
    • Experience with nonprofit best practices such as housing first, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and lowering barriers
    • Growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit
    • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, nonprofit management, or relevant work experience
    • Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders inside and outside of the organization
    • Ability to analyze data, spot trends, and integrate them into future programming

    Competitive compensation:

    • Starting salary range begins at $85K

    More about this position:

    • The position may be partially on-site in Summit, NJ, or fully remote. Some travel (20%) may be required to provide training and support. The position may require working occasional evenings and/or weekends.
