    Location: Must live in Indiana. Remote work is permissible with in-state travel.

    About Indiana Afterschool Network

    The Indiana Afterschool Network (IAN) wants every young person in Indiana to have the best chance at making a great life for themselves and a positive impact in their communities. We believe out-of-school time programming (i.e., before school, after school, and during the summer) can play a major role in that. For more than two decades, IAN has been committed to out-of-school time (OST) organizations through supports and resources that promote continuous quality improvement of programs, increasing families’ access to OST programming, and advocacy that help to shape the environments in which OST providers serve.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Associate Director of Quality Initiatives is responsible for executing IAN’s access, quality strategies, and literacy initiatives. The Associate Director of Quality Initiatives coaches out-of-school time professionals and ensures that providers across the state have knowledge, tools, and resources to implement quality literacy programming and invest in their professionals. The Associate Director of Quality Initiatives performs outreach to out-of-school time providers and stakeholders in communities around Indiana to increase engagement with IAN’s literacy initiative, system of continuous quality improvement, and increase access to out-of-school time programs.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support the Senior Director of In-School and Out-of-School Partnerships in implementing effective literacy programming in OST programs.
    • Provide outreach, technical assistance, training, and coaching to organizations in accessing tools and resources available through IAN and other state or national organizations.
    • Increase engagement with IAN’s system of continuous quality improvement. Coach and increase enhanced utilization of the tools to support leadership and higher-level CQI efforts.
    • Collaborate with the VP of Quality Initiatives to innovate and improve IAN’s system of continuous quality improvement.
    • Develop, source, and implement high-quality content, trainings, and resources to understand and support professional development needs.
    • Build relationships with out-of-school time stakeholders through one-on-one and group meetings.
    • Listen to the voices of out-of-school time stakeholders and share their ideas and feedback with the IAN team.
    • Support programs in developing and implementing plans to increase access to high-quality afterschool programs.
    • Assist with grant writing and reporting. Monitor and implement grant and contract deliverables.

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • In-depth expertise in the Science of Reading and its application in educational programs to enhance student literacy outcomes.
    • Experience of 3-5 years in out-of-school time, education, community development, or other youth-serving organization, preferably in a leadership position.
    • Must demonstrate ability to work in and promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our providers, partners, and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.
    • Must have excellent oral, written, and technology-based communication skills.
    • Ability to partner well with colleagues both inside and outside of the organization.
    • Must demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects required.
    • Able to stay informed of current industry or professional trends. Able to learn and apply new concepts and demonstrate career self-reliance. Able to identify self-development goals.
    • Strong background in youth development, curriculum, training, relationship management, and project implementation.
    • Passion for youth work and understand the connection between in school and out-of-school learning.
    • Knowledge of the principles of out-of-school time quality.
    • Excellent skills in planning and facilitating meetings and group processes.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse variety of individuals.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, social service, or another similar field.
    • CYC credential preferred.
    • Knowledge and expertise about state and federal childcare regulations and childcare system.
    • Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.
