    Position Summary:

    The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and success of the finance team at LeadingAge. Serving as a key point of contact for all finance-related matters within the organization, this position will collaborate closely with the VP of Finance and Director of Finance. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee general accounting and financial processes for LeadingAge’s related parties and accounts payable for the entire organization.

    Key responsibilities will include managing and maintaining accurate financial reports, records, and general ledgers for LeadingAge’s related parties and grants department, as well as overseeing accounts payable for the National Organization. The Accounting Manager will also handle accounts receivable for related parties and provide support with payroll functions.

    In addition to core responsibilities, this role offers opportunities for professional growth and ownership, as well as the chance to drive process improvements based on ongoing needs assessments. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated team player who is committed to delivering results and ensuring financial operations run efficiently.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Accounts Payable – 45%

    • Manages data in Accounts Payable processing system: Anybill
    • Coding expenses to accounts and project cost centers by analyzing invoice and communicating with staff, recording entries into SAGE/Intacct accounting system timely and accurately.
    • Responsible for vendor maintenance by verifying federal ID (EIN) numbers; inputting/maintaining banking information; resolving payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; and issuing stop-payments when needed.
    • Scheduling and preparing payments on a weekly basis based on due date.
    • Works with individuals within the organization to set-up an account within Concur and reviews all transactions verifying proper support and coding before processing for reimbursement and upload file into SAGE.
    • Reconciling of credit card between accounting system and statement monthly.
    • Preparing 1099 Income Tax forms.

    Grants Management – 25%

    • Serves as liaison with LTSS team.
    • Reviews monthly timesheets and reconciles to appropriate grant/contract.
    • Preparing monthly journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and managing the monthly close process with the support of the VP of Finance.
    • Manages financial aspect of grant Management and reporting (Federal and Nonfederal).
    • Works closely with VP and Head of LTSS and VP of Finance to ensure compliance with contract financial guidelines and GAAP.

    Related Party Organizations – 25%

    • Preparing monthly journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and managing the monthly close process with the support of the VP of Finance for LeadingAge’s related parties: The Global Ageing Network, LeadingAge D.C., LeadingAge State Partner Service, and potentially 1 or 2 more.

    Payroll – 5%

    • Processes semi-monthly payroll in coordination with director of finance and AD, Human Resources and administers semi-monthly 403(b) remittance under the guidance of director, finance.

    Other Duties:

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED

    • BS/BA in Finance or Accounting and a minimum of 3 years of non-profit accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience needed.
    • Working knowledge of GAAP
    • Exceptional organizational skills
    • Acute attention to detail
    • Ability to prioritize work based on deadlines
    • Can identify and troubleshoot variances or incorrect balances
    • Demonstrate an ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, productivity and accuracy is a priority.
    • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and monthly closing process.
    • Strong communication skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
    • Additional hours outside of a normal workweek may be required during certain periods of the year.

    Compensation & Benefits

    The salary range for this D.C. based position is $81,214-$85,455 on a 37.5-hour work week for this exempt position. Salary offered may vary depending on relevant factors as determined by LeadingAge, which may include, but are not limited to, background and experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, certifications and licensures internal salary ranges, geographic location and other organizational needs. Salaries for candidates hired outside of the DMV will have salary adjusted using Economic Research Institute’s, Geographic Tool Assessor.

    • Ability to travel to external meetings both locally and nationally, including periodic overnight travel.

    • Ability to be mobile at Annual Meeting; Leadership Summit Conference; and other meetings and events.
    • May be required to move about frequently in the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, attend meetings, etc.
