    Berkeley Food Network is hiring an Operations Coordinator to support our food receiving and inventory management. The Operations Coordinator - Receiving will play a critical role in ensuring that Berkeley Food Network can bring in enough food for our community. This role will work with the Senior Operations Manager to guarantee that all products are received and stored in accordance with BFN standards. Major responsibilities include conducting routine inventory counts, running regular inventory reports to ensure accurate accounting of BFN products, and support allocation of product across programs. Additionally this role will assist with the coordination of warehouse operations including preparing orders, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and working with volunteers.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to prioritize tasks and flexibility to reassess based on changing circumstances.
    • Communication and people skills to successfully interact with a variety of community members.
    • Basic computer skills and using Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail).
    • Experience working in a warehouse environment and handling food products.
    • Willingness to learn to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
    • Must have a valid California driver’s license.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Food Justice or Community Service desired.
    • Experience and comfort operating a forklift and/or pallet jack.
    • Knowledge of food recovery and SB 1383
    • Knowledge of food production and agricultural landscape in Northern California.
    • Experience with software including Primarius and Airtable

    Physical Requirements

    This position is primarily located in a warehouse environment. Candidate must be able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation:

    • Ability to exert force and/or lift or carry items weighing 50 to 75 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds frequently.
    • Ability to walk, sit, squat, bend, twist, reach above and below shoulder height, push, pull, lift and carry frequently.
    • Ability to work inside freezers and coolers frequently.
    • Ability to work in an occasionally loud warehouse environment.
    • Ability to handle compost and trash receptacles.

    Compensation & Benefits

    This is a full-time, exempt hybrid position working Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional hours beyond this scheduled in collaboration (32 hours per week). The rate of pay for this position is $27.00/hour. BFN offers a competitive benefit package including:
