    The New York Philharmonic connects with millions of music lovers each season through live concerts in New York and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. After returning to a transformed David Geffen Hall in October 2022, the Orchestra has a renewed commitment to building on a more than 180-year-old legacy of excellence by serving as a platform for today’s creators and connecting with our communities. In February 2023 the New York Philharmonic announced the appointment of Gustavo Dudamel is set to become as the Orchestra’s next maestro, to begin as the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music and Artistic Director in 2026–27, after serving as Music and Artistic Director Designate in 2025–26.

    The New York Philharmonic seeks a Production Manager to plan and produce Philharmonic events. On assigned projects, this position develops, plans and manages daily production logistics for various institutional programs and activities.

    Responsibilities:

    • On assigned projects, serve as the principal liaison with Lincoln Center Staff for David Geffen Hall (DGH) scheduling and use, and serve as principal liaison with all other Philharmonic venues.
    • Create, maintain, and coordinate the production schedule for current and future seasons with Lincoln Center staff for all DGH spaces and Lincoln Center venues – including all concerts; rehearsals; technical work; recording sessions; conductor, chorus, soloist, artist practice; pre-concert events; auditions; education events, chamber music, etc.
    • Develop, plan, and coordinate all staging requirements, including sound, lighting, keyboard instrument tunings and maintenance, etc. with Stage Representative, Orchestra Personnel Manager, stage crew and conductor/soloists. Create production schedule/calendars, concert run-downs, and stage plot diagrams as needed.
    • Update and maintain organization performance calendar using ArtsVision software; as needed, work closely with Artistic Department staff in drafting various calendars, season grids, and support future season planning overall.
    • Prepare and manage project production budgets as assigned.
    • Lead production planning and concert production for projects as assigned; serve as part of four-person Production Management team, all advancing specific projects on an as-assigned basis.
    • Provide production support for special concerts, tours and other projects as needed.
    • Participate as part of backstage “Concert Duty” team, as assigned.
    • Commitment to contributing to an inclusive working environment.
    • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • A college degree or equivalent with strong administrative, communication, project and time management, and organization skills
    • Previous experience working in a production, operations, or facilities management role (orchestra, opera, or musical theatre.)
    • Experience working with contracts; creating and managing budgets; outstanding oral and written communication skills, and technical and technology skills.
    • Experience with orchestral and theatrical production is preferred, including lighting, live sound, audio recording, video and projection, rigging, scenery, props, costumes, stage management, freight/cargo, and similar.
    • Must be detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to handle many projects simultaneously and problem-solve quickly.
    • Tact, diplomacy, flexibility, and enthusiasm for classical music are essential, the ability to read music is a plus.
    • Fluency with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or similar is a plus.
    • Available to work long hours (early mornings, late nights, holidays, and weekends).
    • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
