    Reports to: Executive Director

    Pride Center of Vermont’s mission is to celebrate, educate, and advocate with and for two spirit, transgender, lesbian, gay, queer, intersex, and asexual (2STLGBQIA+) Vermonters.

    The SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program works in trauma-sensitive ways with 2STLGBQIA+ Vermonters impacted by domestic and sexual violence, bias, hate, discrimination, harassment, and other types of interpersonal, systemic, and community harms. The SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program Director leads the direct service program in support of 2STLGBQIA+ survivors of domestic, sexual, and/or hate violence, and individuals who have experienced or are experiencing bias and/or discrimination. They organize and maintain the day-to-day functioning of the SafeSpace support line and direct service programs (individual and group support, crisis support, advocacy, information and resource navigation, referrals, accompaniment), complete grant reports, maintain data collection in accordance with state guidelines, facilitate 2STLGBQIA+ survivor support trainings, and contribute to general leadership responsibilities for the Pride Center of Vermont.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program Leadership and Direct Services

    • Maintain schedule, provide support and direct supervision to staff and interns providing direct service to SafeSpace support line callers and walk-in clients
      • Hold the main phone line and manage the forwarding of the warmline to each advocate during their shift
      • Maintain regular 1-1 support to SafeSpace staff (currently two full time advocates and one part time advocate)
    • Contribute to budgeting process and ensure appropriate allocation and distribution of funds for the SafeSpace Program, in partnership with the Executive Director
    • Document program and client-related activity via the confidential and secure database program EmpowerDB
    • Contribute to state and national grant reporting, along with PCVT internal monthly reports, in partnership with the Executive Director
    • Create and implement outreach initiatives in alignment with SafeSpace program goals and grant deliverables
    • Lead and/or facilitate leadership of SafeSpace Program team meetings
    • Provide Direct Service by offering individual and group support, advocacy, information, referrals, and accompaniment for 2STLGBQIA+ survivors of violence
    • Provide training and technical assistance to organizations and agencies across Vermont

    Organization-wide Leadership

    • Collaborate with other members of leadership to oversee Pride Center activities and coordination between programs and cross-program projects
    • Participate in leadership team meetings and decision-making about immediate and long-term strategies and initiatives for the Pride Center
    • Assist in building and reinforcing Pride Center culture around racial equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging

    Community Connection

    • Establish and foster long-term, collaborative relationships with agencies and organizations
    • In collaboration with the Executive Director, represent Pride Center in press, media, task forces and coalitions relevant to the SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program’s mission
    • Work with SafeSpace team to implement support groups, workshops, trainings and/or events to offer education, healing and social connection for the 2STLGBQIA+ community and 2STLGBQIA+ survivors
    • Work with other staff to manage SafeSpace program related website, calendar, blog and social media postings

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Strong knowledge and experience providing direct survivor support (3+ years of experience preferred)
    • Relevant experience leading and supervising a team (3+ years of experience preferred)
    • Experience working within a grant-funded structure including understanding and managing grant finances and tracking spending, deadlines, and deliverables
    • Trained as a crisis worker per Vermont state statutes or equivalent, and/or willing to prioritize completing a 20 hour Vermont Crisis Worker Privilege training as part of onboarding process
    • Knowledge and/or experience in anti-oppression work, abolition and transformative justice, and the ability to center and connect with marginalized people
    • Commitment to accountability and addressing conflict openly and constructively
    • Ability to connect with diverse groups within and beyond 2STLGBQIA+ communities
    • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize and maintain boundaries effectively
    • Emotional self-awareness, commitment to work-life balance, and desire to be part of a team that takes care of one another

    This position requires some in-person outreach, advocacy, and education work statewide. Primary location is flexible. Reliable means of regular statewide travel required.
