Tarjimly is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2017 with the mission of eliminating language barriers for refugees, immigrants, and humanitarians. Our Tarjimly mobile app connects people in need with a community of over 50,000 volunteer translators, offering on-demand support through chat, calls, and document translation.

We manage a global community of volunteer translators and interpreters who donate their time and skills to assist refugees and humanitarians. To meet the growing demand for language access, we are seeking a proactive and organized individual to expand and strengthen our volunteer translator network, focusing on outreach and community building.

About The Role

This role will act as the voice of the volunteer community, advocating for platform improvements to enhance the translator experience while also driving the recruitment of new volunteers. You’ll be working alongside our Language Project Coordinator to collaboratively manage and support our translator network, as part of a team focused on our Translator Community. You’ll also be joining a small, dedicated global team operating 100% remotely, united by a shared commitment to our mission.

Employment Details‍

• Salary range: $800 - $1000/month
• Contractor Position.
• Fully Remote Position.
• Full-time (40 hours/week) work. Hours are flexible but need to be responsive to messages & emails during EST working hours.
• Benefits include 21 days PTO/year, accrued monthly.
• Mandatory Team Meetings: Tuesdays & Thursdays 11am EST (3pm GMT), twice monthly planning 11am EST (3pm GMT).

Responsibilities

Volunteer Translator Community Growth & Management

• Expand Tarjimly’s Volunteer Network: Build partnerships with organizations, universities, schools, and community networks to recruit new volunteer translators.
• Outreach & Engagement: Establish relationships with community groups and institutions to ensure a continuous flow of diverse language volunteers.
• Partnership Development: Identify, map, and prioritize partnerships to maximize impact and relevance, creating a dynamic framework to engage new and existing partners.
• Workshops & Trainings: Plan and deliver workshops and training sessions to improve volunteer engagement and capacity.
• Volunteer Platform Management: Oversee our translator community platform to ensure a positive and efficient user experience.
• Community Engagement: Facilitate focus groups and feedback sessions to understand volunteer needs and improve their experience.

You may also be required to collaborate with the Language Outreach & Project Coordinator on recruiting paid translators, managing paid translation projects, and supporting other team tasks as such needs arise.

Desired Experience & Skills

Required:

• Proven experience in network building and partnership development.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and facilitate workshops, focus groups, or events for a global audience.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships, even in remote settings.
• Proactive and innovative mindset
• Passion for our mission, language access, and working with refugees and immigrants and language access.
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred:

• Experience managing remote, volunteer-based teams.
• Knowledge of translation or interpretation services.
• Familiarity with refugee and humanitarian issues or experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Experience conducting workshops or training sessions.
