Founded in 1973, LMCC serves hundreds of artists and tens of thousand of audiences each year through robust Re-granting and Artist Residency Programs as well as a dynamic calendar of free public art events throughout Manhattan and at the Arts Center at Governors Island—a 40,000 square foot arts center that is activated year round with public programs and art exhibitions.
We are a 20 person team of passionate and devoted arts leaders and administrators, providing funding, studio and rehearsal space, professional development, and leadership in cultural planning and advocacy. All activities and operations are supported by a $6M budget and the leadership of an engaged Board of Directors.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
LMCC seeks a full-time Director of Institutional Advancement to play a critical role in shaping the future of our arts and culture programs through innovative fundraising, marketing, and communications strategies. This dynamic position integrates Development and Marketing & Communications under one department, reflecting LMCC’s holistic approach to engagement and storytelling.
The Director will oversee all contributed income streams, including individual, foundation, government, and corporate giving, while leading a cohesive marketing and communications strategy to elevate LMCC’s visibility and audience engagement. They will report directly to the President & CEO and manage a team of four: a Senior Manager of Marketing, Marketing Associate, Grant Manager, and Development Associate. The Director will also work collaboratively with leadership and Board members to ensure LMCC’s sustainability and growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement an integrated fundraising, marketing, and communications strategy to expand LMCC’s impact and visibility.
Collaborate with the President & CEO, Board, and Senior Staff to align strategies with organizational goals.
Manage and re-forecast the department’s annual budget to maximize resources effectively.
Fundraising Strategy and Implementation
Oversee all contributed revenue streams, including individual, foundation, government, and corporate giving.
Lead donor communications, stewardship, and acknowledgments to deepen funder relationships.
Plan and execute key fundraising events, including LMCC’s annual gala.
Marketing & Communications Oversight
Direct the development of cohesive marketing campaigns across digital, print, and social media platforms.
Oversee website management, email marketing, and analytics using tools like WordPress, Mailchimp, and Google Analytics.
Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
Donor Management and Reporting
Manage donor and audience data using CRM systems like Salesforce to ensure accurate records.
Use data analytics to track progress and refine fundraising and audience engagement strategies.
Regularly report progress to leadership and the Board to align on key metrics and goals.
Team Leadership
Supervise and mentor a team of four, including marketing and development staff.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, setting clear goals and priorities.
Hire and manage independent contractors for special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
7+ years of progressively responsible experience in development, marketing, or communications, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Proven success in managing individual and institutional giving, as well as developing integrated marketing and communications strategies.
Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), digital tools like Linktree, and platforms for website, email marketing, and analytics (e.g., WordPress, Mailchimp, Google Analytics).
Strong command of design and branding tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences.
Passion for the arts and culture sector, with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and innovative thinking.
COMPENSATION
The salary for this position is $100,000 and includes an attractive benefits package including health coverage, dental and optional vision plans, life insurance, four (4) weeks of annual vacation, plus generous personal and sick days. Health benefits begin three (3) months after the first date of employment.
We maintain a hybrid work schedule, requiring Tuesday - Thursday in-office at the Arts Center at Governors Island with remote work on Monday & Friday. This is an exempt position and will require night and weekend availability.
