Digital Communications Coordinator

Lead Locally is looking for a Digital Communications Coordinator who can drive digital engagement around critical down ballot climate elections to help win local elections for the climate movement.

Lead Locally organizes around down ballot climate elections that can stop fossil fuels and build the Green New Deal from the grassroots up. We engage volunteers and donors to remotely support climate champions running in the most important down ballot elections across the county in partnership with local and state partners.

The Digital Communications Coordinator will be responsible for making our campaigns come to life online by sharing compelling and actionable content. We’re looking for someone who can ramp up our online campaign, social media presence, and in particular help us expand to Instagram reels and TikTok.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop social media content that highlights the significance of down ballot climate elections and spurs people to take action
• Manage and grow Lead Locally’s social media presence by crafting compelling content that highlights campaign opportunities and the leadership of local campaigns, candidates and elected officials
• Support Lead Locally to launch short form video content on Instagram reels and TikTok
• Support the drafting and editing of campaign materials and candidate write-ups
• Launch and maintain a newsletter for Lead Locally candidate alumni so that they get a digest of compelling local climate action
• Maintain and build on Lead Locally’s style guide to develop an exciting and consistent brand
• Contribute to our overall communications narrative, including educating our membership through email content

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong experience across social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook
• Experience with communications around elections and electoral campaigns
• Ability to write compelling political content for email, social media, and blog posts
