    Behavioral Health Catalyst (BHC) envisions a future in which people experiencing – or at risk of – behavioral health challenges not only survive but thrive. We aim to realize this vision by improving policy and stimulating effective public and private investment. We take a systems approach to all our activities: facilitating policy processes, convening and connecting actors across the system, and communicating key knowledge and insights.

    Behavioral Health Catalyst is providing advisory support to Washington Thriving, the effort to develop Washington State’s Prenatal-through-Age-25 Behavioral Health Strategic Plan. Washington Thriving is an initiative of the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Work Group.

    Position Information

    Job Title: Analyst

    Job Location: Virtual or hybrid; option to work in-person in our Seattle, WA office

    Contract Term: Up to five months, beginning in April 2025

    Time Allocation: Up to 20 hours per week (up to 400 hours total)

    Position Summary

    This job description outlines the responsibilities and qualifications for a limited-term Analyst role supporting Washington Thriving, the effort to develop Washington State’s Prenatal-through-Age-25 Behavioral Health Strategic Plan.

    This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a transformative policy initiative. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, adaptable, and resourceful. They will be structured in their thinking and communication and good at managing their time and right-sizing their effort to deliver against deadlines. They will have skills and experience in research, analysis, and synthesis for strategy development and an interest in applying these skills to behavioral health policy in Washington State.

    This person will report to and work closely with BHC’s Strategy Lead.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct literature review and consult with subject matter experts to uncover relevant evidence and best practices from within Washington and across other states to inform key strategic recommendations
    • Draft narrative briefs and powerpoints to support recommendations
    • Track conversations and organize source material for easy reference

    Qualifications

    • Interest in behavioral health; we encourage applicants with lived experience to apply
    • 2-5 years of experience in research/analysis and/or strategy consulting roles
    • Proven ability to collect, interpret, and organize data and information
    • Proven ability to identify gaps in knowledge, define research questions and identify the right sources to generate answers
    • Strong attention to detail and organization
    • Clear, concise, and compelling written and verbal communication
    • Competency working in Microsoft 365
    • Experience with policy analysis/development a plus
