    About the Organization—Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy

    Since 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, partners, donors, and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties, north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge, and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco.

    About the role – Membership Associate

    The Membership Associate is part of the Development and Membership branch that leads our organization-wide fundraising efforts to advance the mission of the Parks Conservancy in supporting the GGNRA. Reporting to the Director of Membership, the Membership Associate is a key contributor to the success of the Development and Membership branch. The role executes data and administrative functions for Membership revenue streams. They also provide support for all development revenue streams including Individual and Trustee Giving, Events, Institutional Giving, Corporate and Campaigns. This position is responsible for donor records in the Conservancy’s database (Raiser’s Edge NXT) including processing, tracking, and gift acknowledgments, maintaining individual records, regular reporting to internal teams and monitoring data integrity. They will be required to communicate directly to members professionally.

    This position is located at Park Headquarters at 102 Fort Mason. Work is performed in an office setting, including a mix of telework and on-site. This position requires at least 3 days per week onsite, either in office (Fort Mason) or visiting our employees on location at our incredible park sites (for example, Alcatraz, Muir Woods, and Crissy Field).

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    Data Entry, Management and Reporting

    • Adhere to database processes and data entry best practices
    • Working with the Associate Director of Donor Database and Development Operations, support membership data entry, gifts and donations, including checks, credit cards, cash, ACH transfers, stock, and retail store gifts
    • Ensure accurate entry of new constituent contact information and updates current donor information
    • Assist in weekly importing all online gifts, new constituents, and event registrations into the Raiser’s Edge database
    • Assist in tracking and reporting on appropriate and timely data entry of membership donations from all sources in the Raiser’s Edge database
    • Ensure the integrity of the membership records (i.e. reconciling accounts and duplicate records)
    • Partner with Associate Director of Database Management and team to build member dashboard and list pull queries for internal and vendor use

    Acknowledgements and Premium Fulfillment

    • Ensure timely implementation of mailed and electronic gift acknowledgements for all gifts under $1,000
    • Package and mail member premiums in a timely manner
    • Assist in other member mailing projects as needed

    Member Stewardship

      • Correspond via email or phone with members to resolve inquiries, such as credit card and monthly contribution issues, etc.
      • Serve as primary Membership contact on email and phone and responds to member inquiries in a timely manner (preferably within 48 hours)
    • Assist membership team with stewardship events and programs, including member communications, registration and staffing events (nights and weekends occasionally required)
    • Oversee and troubleshoot digital membership card program, ensures data fetches happen regularly and accurately, manages member inquiries and resolves them in a timely manner

    Other Support

    • Provide staff support for other donor events as needed
    • Perform other administrative duties as needed, including check processing as required
    • Assist with development team projects
    • Support on general membership communications and acquisition, lead generation and other campaigns as needed

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Strong proficiency in computer tasks such as gift entry, database updating and mail merges
    • Familiarity with applications such as Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft suite of programs
    • Detail-oriented
    • Capable of interacting professionally with donors, staff across various departments, and outside support vendors
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent customer service skills
    • Commitment to working in a dynamic, creative team; ability to work independently
    • Adaptable with a tolerance for ambiguity and change
    • Professional commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

    Education and/or Experience:

    • One to two years applicable experience in a nonprofit or similar setting
    • Database experience and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and/or other CRMs or databases strongly preferred

    Physical Requirements and Work Environments:

    • Work is performed in an office setting
    • Work is primarily performed sitting and standing
    • Regularly sits at a desk 6-8 hours per day

    Pay Rate/Grade/Benefits:

    Pay rate is $32/hour (Grade 12).
