    About Us: Angel Eyes provides grief support to families whose lives have been impacted by the loss of a child. We offer free professional counseling, support groups, peer connections and community referrals to those who are grieving. Our services are offered to adults, children and couples who are searching for a way to manage the trauma and redefine who they are after the devastating loss of their precious child. We do not accept insurance or pass any of the costs to the families utilizing our services.

    Job Title: Grief Counselor

    Location: Strongsville, OH

    Position Type: Part- time or Fulltime

    Work Setting: Hybrid

    Pay: $60,000 annual salary, flexible schedule.

    Job Summary: As a Grief Counselor, you will provide emotional support and guidance to individuals and families experiencing grief due to the loss of a child. You will work with clients to help them navigate the complex emotions associated with bereavement and to develop coping strategies. Your role involves conducting individual and group counseling sessions, creating personalized grief management plans, and offering a compassionate presence to those in need.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide Counseling: Offer one-on-one and group counseling sessions to clients experiencing grief due to the loss of a child. Assess clients’ needs and develop tailored treatment plans.
    • Support and Guidance: Assist clients in processing their emotions and adjusting to life changes following the loss of their child. Provide strategies for managing grief and building resilience.
    • Develop Resources: Create and distribute resources, including educational materials and coping strategies, to help clients understand and manage their grief.
    • Facilitate Support Groups: Lead support groups for individuals and families dealing with loss, providing a safe space for shared experiences and mutual support.
    • Maintain Records: Keep detailed and confidential records of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress. Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards.
    • Collaborate with Professionals: Work with other healthcare providers, social workers, and community organizations to support clients’ overall well-being.
    • Stay Informed: Keep abreast of the latest research and best practices in grief counseling and incorporate new techniques into your practice.
    • Fundraising: Provide professional insight and program development necessary for the obtainment and utilization of grants. Participate in and help facilitate organization fundraising events.

    Qualifications:

    • Licensure/Certification: Valid state licensure (e.g. LPC, LPCC, LISW) or certification as a grief counselor (e.g., Certified Grief Counselor).
    • Experience: 3 years of experience in counseling or a related field, with specific experience in grief counseling preferred.
    • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, empathy, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism.
    • Knowledge: Understanding of grief and bereavement theories, as well as familiarity with various counseling techniques and approaches.
    • Liability Insurance: Must carry professional liability insurance.
    • Additional Requirements: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
