The Senior Manager of Philanthropy & Community Partnerships plays a key role in
securing resources that directly impact the lives of youth served by Variety Boys and Girls Club
of Queens. This position leads the organization’s fundraising and resource development efforts,
building strong community relationships to expand VBGCQ’s donor network and funding
opportunities. The role is essential in sustaining and growing programs that empower young
people, ensuring they have access to quality educational, recreational, and leadership
development experiences.
This leader will cultivate meaningful partnerships with donors, corporate sponsors, foundations,
and government agencies while developing a comprehensive strategy to secure grants, major
gifts, and sponsorships. The Senior Manager of Philanthropy & Community Partnerships will
work collaboratively with the Executive Director, senior leadership, staff, and board members to implement a sustainable and mission-driven development plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Resource Development:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet annual revenue goals,
ensuring sustainability for youth programs.
Identify and pursue new funding sources, including grants, corporate sponsorships, major gifts,
and individual contributions.
Manage annual fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship initiatives, and corporate partnership
programs.
Strengthen individual giving programs, including monthly giving, planned giving, and donor
recognition efforts.
Donor Cultivation & Community Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and
community partners to expand financial support.
Develop donor engagement strategies that emphasize the impact of contributions on the lives of
young people in Queens.
Ensure regular, personalized donor communications, sharing success stories and program updates
that inspire continued giving.
Oversee the development of youth-centered donor appreciation initiatives, such as student-led
events, mentorship programs, and community showcases.
Grant Writing & Management:
Lead the preparation and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and local government
agencies, as well as private foundations.
Monitor and manage all active grants, ensuring compliance, timely reporting, and measurable
impact.
Identify and cultivate new grant opportunities that align with VBGCQ’s mission and strategic
vision.
Fundraising & Mission-Driven Events:
Lead the planning and execution of fundraising events, annual galas, community giving days, and
donor appreciation gatherings.
Collaborate with event committees, staff, and volunteers to ensure events align with VBGCQ’s
youth development goals and fundraising targets.
Engage youth participants and alumni in donor events, showcasing their achievements and
success stories to inspire further support.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Supervise and mentor development team members, fostering a culture of collaboration,
accountability, and mission-driven fundraising.
Work closely with the CEO, Executive Director, and Board of Directors to align development
efforts with organizational priorities.
Collaborate with program staff to ensure fundraising initiatives directly support youth
programming and community impact.
Financial Oversight & Reporting:
Manage the development budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximize
fundraising success.
Provide regular reports to the board and leadership team on fundraising performance, donor
engagement, and grant activity.
Ensure transparency and adherence to nonprofit financial regulations in all fundraising and
donation processes.
Marketing & Public Relations:
Partner with the communications team to develop compelling storytelling content that highlights
the impact of donor contributions.
Create fundraising materials, including newsletters, appeals, social media content, and donor
spotlights.
Represent VBGCQ at community events, donor meetings, networking opportunities, and
corporate outreach initiatives.
Qualifications:
Experience & Skills:
5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including donor cultivation, grants management,
and corporate partnerships.
Strong knowledge of fundraising strategies, donor stewardship, and nonprofit management best
practices.
Proven success in securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and government funding.
Experience with grant writing and donor database management (CRM software such as
Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge).
Excellent communication, storytelling, and relationship-building skills.
Strong leadership abilities, including experience managing a team and engaging diverse
stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, Public Administration,
or a related field (Master’s strongly preferred).
Additional Skills:
Familiarity with nonprofit financials, budget management, and compliance.
Passion for youth development and community empowerment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, donor CRM platforms, and social media tools.
