    Position Summary:

    The Accounting Manager is an important team member in support of the Chief Financial Officer and the finance area of GLA. This position provides accounting, financial and some degree of database support to the finance area and GLA team, including revenue and expense processing, management of credit card expenses and receipt documentation, maintenance of electronic records and audit/tax return management.

    Position Duties and Responsibilities:

    Finance

    • Responsible for general non-profit accounting functions on a timely basis, including processing cash receipts and cash disbursements; posting journal entries and other allocations; and reconciling bank and credit card accounts. Provide monthly financial reports to the CFO.
    • Work with Database Manager to ensure proper coding of revenue. Monthly reconciliation of revenue between donor database and accounting software.
    • Administrative responsibility of full cycle of revenue processing including downloading and organizing transactions from various external platforms, electronic file management of revenue back-up documentation and acknowledgement support. Full circle A/R manager.
    • Enter all approved invoices and expenses into the accounting software accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Post all credit card transactions and assign proper transaction coding before reconciling accounts monthly.
    • Process vendor payments electronically. Full circle A/P Manager
    • Maintain copies of all W-9’s and handle electronic file management of vendor files and paid bills accurately and in a timely manner. In charge of review and issuance of 1099s.
    • Generate reports from the accounting software whenever requested, in addition to the monthly reports to the CFO.
    • Provide monthly budget reports to department heads.
    • Assist with yearly budget planning and updating budget in Quickbooks Online
    • Handle Finance Dept. correspondence.
    • Liaison with the state registration agency and maintain the online portal.
    • Main point of contact for the annual financial audit and preparation of annual financial statements and IRS 990 tax return.

    Human Resources/Payroll

    • Oversee payroll and human resource portal, and post payroll JE on QB.
    • Point of contact for employees’ requests regarding PTO and general portal questions.
    • Process employee expense reimbursements
    • Onboard new employees to portal
    • Offboard terminated employees
    • Review benefits for approval by COO; communicate changes to staff
    • Point of contact for PEO, currently Justworks

    Additional Department Responsibilities:

    • Maintain contract and insurance files
    • New software platform compatibility research and implementation
    • Maintenance of connections with online accounting platform

    Position Job Requirements:

    • Minimum bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of five years of related experience; experience with non-profit accounting and financial audits a plus
    • Ability to work under tight time frames at specific times in the reporting cycle, and exercise superior time management skills
    • Efficient computer skills, including excellence with QuickBooks Online and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook/Excel/ Word); proficiency with Adobe and internet-based platforms; ability to learn to navigate donor database
    • Interest and ability to work with team to evaluate changes in accounting platform, and other supporting finance technologies
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and dependable work ethic
    • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
