    Job Title: Director of Direct Services

    Supervised By: Executive Director

    Supervises: Housing Program Team Lead and Survivor Advocacy Team Lead (subject to change)

    Position Summary

    The Director of Direct Services provides direction, supervision, and guidance to KAN-WIN’s Direct Services team in delivering survivor-centered, culturally and linguistically appropriate, and respectful services to survivors of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. The Director helps lead the vision and goal implementation of Direct Services programs, managing day-to-day service delivery in collaboration with other directors at the organization. Active participation and leadership in ensuring high-quality services and program standards are key, along with implementing programs in alignment with the organizational strategic plan and funder requirements. Spurring teamwork and collaboration in this role will involve fostering open communication, aligning individual strengths with team goals, building trust, and celebrating successes to maintain a high level of service and team morale.

    Responsibilities:

    Programs/Services Goal Setting & Supervision (45%)

    • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement goals that align with KAN-WIN’s strategic priorities and the needs of clients.
    • Lead and support the Direct Services team in setting and achieving both long- and short-term objectives, ensuring programs effectively address client and community needs and complies with various requirements (funders, grants, etc.).
    • Develop and implement processes, best practices, and procedures that promote survivor-centered programs and services aligned with organizational vision. Provide training and ensure Direct Services staff adhere to organizational policies, protocols, and best practices.
    • Oversee staffing to ensure programs are adequately resourced, directing staff in their efforts to support survivors.
    • Identify and coordinate professional development opportunities for staff, balancing these needs with budgetary constraints.
    • Foster collaboration across departments to enhance organizational goals, such as identifying outreach needs, incorporating client financial needs into fundraising efforts, and promoting a shared understanding of KAN-WIN’s values and target issues.
    • Lead the development of burnout prevention strategies by gathering team feedback, researching external resources, and consulting with external partners.
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of government grants related to direct services and ensure compliance with all goals and requirements.
    • Manage a limited caseload for case management, counseling, advocacy, and related services for KAN-WIN clients as needed.

    Partnership Building (25%)

    • Guide the Direct Services team in building external partnerships to expand the resource and referral network for KAN-WIN clients.
    • Serve as the primary liaison for major partnerships with external organizations to broaden the network of service providers supporting KAN-WIN clients.
    • Advocate for survivors by collaborating with organizational and community partners, participating in advisory groups and coalitions, and organizing events to enhance resources for survivors, promote culturally responsive approaches, and raise community awareness of key issues.

    Team Fiscal Management (15%)

    • Collaborate with the leadership team in developing, and managing the fiscal aspects of the Direct Services program.
    • Assist in the creation and implementation of the Direct Services program budget.
    • Work closely with the team to identify, pursue, and apply for grant funding to support Direct Services initiatives.

    Data Management & Quality Assurance (10%)

    • Generate and report statistical data quarterly to: 1) review progress and accountability with the Direct Services team, and 2) assess overall progress with the leadership team.
    • Lead the team to conduct and analyze outcome measurements.
    • Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure that files, case notes, InfoNet data, and other client-related documentation meet industry standards. Provide staff training on data input and management best practices.

    Organizational Duties (5%)

    • Assists and participates in organizational activities such as fundraising and special events.
    • Participates in staff meetings and select committees.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

    The ideal candidate will have these qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work/life experience
    • 3-5 years’ experience in a human services setting
    • 3-5 years’ experience in the domestic or sexual violence field
    • 2-4 years’ experience in supervising multiple staff and/or volunteers
    • Valid Illinois driver’s license and current auto insurance
    • Proficiency in an additional language, along with English, would be a plus
    • Experience working with team and communities of various cultural backgrounds
    • Strong commitment and ability to create and manage social change efforts
    • Understanding of the grantmaking process
    • Proven financial/budget management experience
    • Strong community outreach and networking skills
    • Excellent communication skills (including verbal, written, and presentation) for grant report writing, internal and external training provision, grant application writing, etc.

    Work Environment:

    • Hybrid working environment.
    • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
    • This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work occasionally may be required.
    • Some travel to off-site locations in the Chicago metro or out-of-the-area travel area may be required.
