    Position Summary

    Seeking an experienced and dynamic accountant to play a key role in the accounting department. Responsibilities include assisting the accounting department in analyzing results and month end close, process improvement and workflow direction. Other duties include but not limited to revenue and expense analysis, payroll allocations and cost analysis, and fixed assets. This position collaborates with Rise's Directors, the Finance team and the IT team.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions

    Month End Close:

    • Assist in month end close by performing journal entries in accounting software related to revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities as assigned, such as prepaid & accruals, bank reconciliations, and reconcile donations.
    • Post payroll biweekly and month end accruals.
    • Maintain fixed assets module in accounting software, office leases and property insurance.
    • Responsible for sales tax reporting.
    • File petroleum tax refund claim.

    Analyze and help support key financial results:

    • Collect financial & operational data and monitor key performance indicators.
    • Perform various revenue analytics and testing to ensure complete revenue recognition.
    • Analyze expense accounts and summarize for reporting purposes.

    Other:

    • Serve as backup to financial reporting, cash receipting, and accounts payable as needed.
    • Assist with year-end audit.
    • Support the Grant Accountant with grant financial reporting and documentation.

    Required Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications

    • Minimum four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience
    • Three years general accounting experience preferably in the nonprofit industry
    • Excellent mathematical accuracy and attention to detail
    • Customer service skills to maintain good internal and external working relationships
    • Ability to prioritize, organize and self-direct to meet deadlines and accomplish goals
    • Skill in researching/investigating and summarizing financial transactions
    • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and completely to stakeholders
    • Technology skills: past proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, etc.), advanced level of Excel
    • Current, valid driver’s license

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with MS Dynamics GP software
    • Experience in the social services industry

    Working Conditions and Environment

    • Hours of Work: Hours of work are typically daytime, Monday through Friday
    • Work Environment: This job operates primarily in a work-from-home and sometimes Rise office environment.
    • Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Able to enter data and sit at a computer for up to eight hours a day.

    Benefits

    Wage: $68,455.85-$80,465.65 annually, depending on qualifications
