Overview:
More than five million children die every year and more than half the world’s population lives without access to essential health care. To take on these enormous injustices, Muso is growing rapidly. We aim to reach up to one million patients directly with proactive care, and to improve care for tens of millions of people through changes in global policy and practice. To get there, we will pursue significant growth in our foundation and corporate, individual, and bi- and multi-lateral partnerships, and continue to build systems to manage and expand our current partnerships.
In this context, Muso’s Major Gifts Officer will play a key role in our efforts to develop, cultivate, steward, and retain a network of high net worth donors and prospects. The MGO will build and manage a portfolio with the aim of growing our individual giving four-fold over the next four years. This position will directly interface with potential and current donors, as well as strategically deploy and staff senior leadership members.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the development sector including in the public health sector globally. The candidate will have worked in and led a portfolio of major donors and have a deep understanding of the individual philanthropy landscape. In addition to stewardship and growth with existing donors, they will be responsible for identifying and developing a robust portfolio of prospects and new donors across the US.
They will possess exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and persuasive communication skills. This candidate will be resilient, comfortable with managing competing priorities that come with rapid and ambitious organizational growth, and will have the drive and prioritization skills necessary to proactively drive forward high-quality work independently and collaboratively. They will have an unwavering commitment to social justice and global health equity and understand how to weave these values into their communication and advocacy with stakeholders distant from the communities Muso serves. We are looking for a candidate excited by the prospect of long-term professional growth within a dynamic and rapidly-expanding organization.
This position will report to the Chief Partnerships Officer and work in close collaboration with other development team members, as well as other executive leadership members as strategic. This role will join a rapidly growing development and communications team working between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa.
