    Rainbow Labs is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Queer and Gender Nonconforming (QGNC) youth by providing safe, inclusive, and peer-driven after-school programs. Guided by core values of Discovery, Awareness, Boldness, Curiosity, Accountability, and Inclusivity, Rainbow Labs offers mentorship and support to QGNC youth aged 12-18 through programs designed by and for them. Led by mentors trained in trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and youth development, these programs create spaces for youth to explore their identities, develop life skills, and engage in real-world applications.

    About the Role

    Rainbow Labs is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Director of Operations to oversee and manage the organization's day-to-day operational functions. Reporting to senior leadership, the Director of Operations will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of human resources, administrative systems, compliance, and overall organizational efficiency. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader who thrives on optimizing systems, supporting teams, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.

    Key Responsibilities

    Discovery & Curiosity

    • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to support organizational growth and effectiveness.
    • Manage technology infrastructure, ensuring staff have access to tools and resources needed for productivity.
    • Identify and implement improvements to operational systems and processes, fostering innovation and efficiency.

    Awareness & Administrative Support

    • Lead HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies, maintaining a supportive and equitable workplace.
    • Prepare and present operational reports to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

    Boldness & Accountability

    • Oversee daily operations, ensuring administrative systems and processes are efficient and aligned with organizational goals.
    • Manage operational budgets in collaboration with the finance team, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with organizational goals.
    • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and funding requirements.

    Inclusivity & Community Engagement

    • Serve as an operational point of contact for stakeholders, community partners, and funders.
    • Represent Rainbow Labs at meetings and events to strengthen the organization’s presence and build relationships.
    • Foster an inclusive and collaborative organizational culture that promotes equity and belonging.

    Facilities & Technology Management

    • Oversee facility operations, including maintenance, safety protocols, and cost-effective resource management.
    • Support a safe and efficient working environment that aligns with Rainbow Labs' values and mission.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Proven track record of successfully managing operational functions in a nonprofit or similar environment.
    • Experience working in a youth development nonprofit.
    • Experience leading HR processes, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
    • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and compliance oversight.
    • Familiarity with facilities management and technology systems.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and creating a supportive workplace culture.
    • Experience managing or leading nonprofit programs is a plus but not required.
