Job Summary:

Brady is seeking a Director for its Combating Crime Guns Initiative (CCGI), a unique program designed to disrupt the flow of crime guns into communities most impacted by gun violence. CCGI designs, builds, and implements strategic projects that Educate communities about the importance of supply side solutions to gun violence, Identifies gun industry businesses contributing to the crime gun problem and the points where legally purchased guns are diverted to the criminal market, and Reforms the business practices and behavior of such actors with appropriate intervention tactics.

The Director is a key contributor to CCGI’s dynamic and collaborative team, leading CCGI’s regional, state, and local programs. Ideal candidates for this position are strategic thinkers and creative problem-solvers, have experience managing people and multiple projects concurrently, and are comfortable engaging with external partners in diverse professional settings including community organizations, government (state, local, and federal), law enforcement, media, and the research community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and support to Brady’s existing CCGI regional/local programs in the Midwest, California, and the Mid-Atlantic, focused on engaging communities that are disproportionately impacted by crime guns and activating them around supply-side approaches that seek to reform the gun industry and reduce the quantities of trafficked firearms
• Supervise and mentor 3-4 employees, including CCGI Senior Managers in each of our focus regions and CCGI’s Program Associate
• With Brady’s Strategic Engagement Team and CCGI Senior Managers, support implementation of key programmatic regional initiatives, including community summits, storytelling projects, firearms procurement reform, and other projects
• Collaborate with Brady’s Strategic Engagement Team and the CCGI Team to deepen existing relationships and build new partnerships with community organizations, state & local government, law enforcement, the research community, and other strategic partners
• Identify and pursue opportunities for CCGI to expand into new states and regions and develop new projects that fit into CCGI’s Educate, Identify, Reform framework
• Liaise with Brady’s Communications, Organizing, Finance, and other internal teams to further CCGI’s programmatic priorities and ensure smooth operations
• With Brady’s Development Team and CCGI Senior Managers, ensure that CCGI’s grant applications, grant management, and grant reporting reflects our programmatic goals and fulfills funder expectations

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience building and managing projects in a public health, public policy, and/or non-profit organization setting, particularly projects designed to reform industry/corporate behavior
• Advanced degree in public health, public policy, law, or other similar social sciences
• A collaborative and inclusive approach to work both at Brady and among external partners
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time-sensitive and diverse projects simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the root causes of gun violence and its intersections amongst racial, social, and economic justice issues is preferred
• Previous experience supervising a small team is a plus
