    Descrição

    About Community Works:

Community Works (CW) prevents young people from entering criminal legal systems and improves outcomes for any who do by transforming justice at both the individual and systemic levels.

We aim to move away from systems-centered paradigms of safety and justice reliant on ineffective punitive measures and instead toward community-centered approaches that focus on accountability, equity, relationships, and healing.

Our work includes: restorative justice diversion, survivor empowerment, reentry support, violence prevention, family strengthening, leadership development, youth advocacy, and community organizing.

    Position Overview:

Serving formerly incarcerated people coming home from jail or prison, our restorative reentry program combines case management with restorative justice, curriculum-based groups and individual therapy.

Reporting to the restorative reentry program manager, this role will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals as they navigate the complexities of reentry, healing, and personal growth. By addressing trauma and fostering resilience, you will help participants build individual capacity and strengthen interpersonal connections.

    You Will:

    • Assess and provide therapy to formerly incarcerated people.
    • Use the ANSA clinical assessment tool (although there may be an option to use an alternative tool) while providing one-on-one counseling through cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and other trauma-informed approaches and modalities.
    • Conduct at least 33 clinical assessments and engage in short- to mid-term individualized therapy (lasting between 3-9 months) for 25 individuals per year.
    • Seek to link participants to longer term community resources and services that will continue to promote their health, safety, and well-being.
    • Coordinate with internal and external colleagues to carry out treatment/care plans.
    • Attend and participate in all staff meetings, training, and program events.
    • Regularly input case progress notes to the program database, maintain client records in hard copy, and comply with all program reporting requirements for periodic review.
    • Maintain data tracking systems and make timely submission of all program reports.
    • Other duties as needed, specified by the program manager.

    You Are:

    • Critically self aware and demonstrate sensitivity with clients, coworkers, and others who are different from yourself.
    • Solid in your understanding of the criminal justice system, particularly its impact on low-income communities of color.
    • Able to work independently with a high level of self-motivation to complete tasks, manage a caseload, honor commitments and scheduled appointments.
    • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
    • Committed to social justice with a strong interest in the principles and practices of restorative justice.
    • Committed to supporting the integration of restorative practices throughout the program and organization.
    • Reliable in judgement and professionalism.

    You Have:

    • LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or Psy.D. with current California BBS license
    • The ability to obtain fingerprint clearance
    • Reliable transportation
    • Experience providing therapy, mental/behavioral health, and case management services
    • Knowledge of best practices for trauma-informed mental/behavioral health care and case management.
    • Strong computer skills. Familiarity with Microsoft programs (Word and Excel) preferred.
    • An open ear to feedback and will use it constructively.
    • Proven track record to thrive in high-stress environments

CW is an equal opportunity employer that strongly encourages formerly incarcerated people, children of incarcerated parents, and others intimately affected by justice systems to apply. We are also committed to maintaining a diverse work environment that reflects the communities we serve and seek applicants who are: bilingual, LGBTQ+, people of color, people with disabilities, religious minorities, and/or women.
