    About Kinston Teens:

    Founded in 2014, Kinston Teens has been at the forefront of youth civic engagement, disaster response, and community development in Kinston and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to empower young people through service, leadership, and civic engagement. The organization is in the process of growing its capacity, and the employee who fills this position will be joining a staff of two other full-time employees with plans to have a team of five full-time employees by early 2025.

    Position Overview:

    The Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Director with finance, human resources, and internal administration functions. This position requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can efficiently manage various internal aspects of the organization. The Operations Manager will collaborate with external partners, such as our CPA firm and Professional Employer Organization (PEO), to ensure smooth operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Finance Support: Collaborate with the external CPA firm for bookkeeping, finance reports, and tax filing by scanning and photocopying receipts and providing necessary materials, such as bank statements, receipts, tax forms, and voided checks.
    • Human Resources Support: The organization uses a PEO to manage most human resources responsibilities. The Operations Manager will assist with some of these functions, including payroll processing and employee records management. Regularly review the PEO system, update pay schedules, and manage employee additions/removals.
    • Administrative Support: Serve as the primary team member for all administrative functions within the organization, including managing the organization’s internal and external calendar of events, and providing some Executive Assistant support for the Executive Director. The Operations Manager will also assist the Executive Director with submitting grant reports, invoices, and contracts on a timely basis.
    • Program Support: Support Kinston Teens programs, projects, and events with staffing, logistics, scheduling, and administrative support as needed.
    • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance operational processes, systems, and workflows. Implement improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in and/or a passion for working with youth, nonprofits, volunteerism, civic engagement, and/or community development.
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
    • Proven experience in operational functions such as human resources, finance, payroll, and/or clerical support.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
    • Ability to set up, manage, and continuously improve processes and workflows.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of the Kinston community and its community organizations is desirable.

    Work Environment:

    This position will primarily work indoors at the Kinston Teens office. Occasional outdoor events and field work, during which sufficient mobility is required to navigate uneven terrain. Kinston Teens occasionally hosts evening or weekend meetings or events, in which this position will be required to staff.
