    Descrição

    ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

OneWorld Now! (OWN) is a nonprofit with over 20 years of experience providing inclusive and accessible international education for high school students. As part of our after-school or summer program, students can earn high school world language and elective credit by studying Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, or Russian. They can also opt to participate in credit-bearing Leadership workshops and apply to study abroad in a range of countries. Through their participation in our programs, students develop crucial skills and mindsets to be global citizens.

OWN prioritizes the determined high school students who are historically marginalized by education systems, especially those coming from communities of color, communities new to the U.S., and communities facing economic hardship. They join class in-person and online, from Seattle and across the continent.

OneWorld Now!’s vision is that all youth have access to transformative international education opportunities. To help ensure this, all OneWorld Now! programs are priced on a sliding scale based on family size and income.

OneWorld Now! is committed to being an anti-racist organization and to supporting our youth, staff, and community in our collective, ongoing learning of how we can dismantle all systems of oppression.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

OneWorld Now! seeks an inspiring and exemplary leader to build on the organization’s successes. The Executive Director will join OneWorld Now! after significant development in recent years, including the introduction of online programs, new partnerships with schools, new structures to build an equitable organizational culture, increased revenues, and a doubling in the number of students being served each year. Opportunities for the next leader include program development, building partnerships with new school districts, fundraising for financial sustainability, professional growth and development for staff, maturing organizational operations and processes, and maintaining an inclusive and collaborative work culture. The OneWorld Now office is a hybrid workplace (with an expectation of being in the office 2-3 days a week), and this position will need to be based in Seattle, WA.

    MAIN DUTIES

    Leadership and Management

    • Work with the Board of Directors and staff to refine the vision for the future; map out and implement a strategic plan; enhance sustainability; and continually assess the mission in light of changing contexts.
    • Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to strengthen board governance and fiscal responsibility.
    • Collaborate closely with other staff Directors in organizational decision-making and operational support.
    • Manage a diverse staff of program managers, including one who works remotely.
    • Prepare and manage the annual operating budget; work with the Chief Financial Officer to monitor revenues and expenditures to ensure sound fiscal management.
    • Identify new ways to continue growing the capacity of the organization through volunteers, the Board of Directors, community partners, collaborating organizations, families, and alumni.
    • Hire and onboard new staff as needed.

    Fundraising and Development

    • Serve as chief spokesperson for the organization, continuing to grow awareness of OneWorld Now!, and communicating an exciting vision that supporters want to join.
    • Collaborate closely with our Development Manager to maintain and cultivate individual, corporate, foundation, and government relations in support of securing funding and development opportunities.
    • Collaborate closely with our Development Manager and contract grant writer to oversee and manage grant proposals.
    • Oversee communications and events related to outreach, engagement, and fundraising.
    • Strengthen collaborations and partnerships across the fields of international education, world languages, and youth development.

    DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

We understand that our next Executive Director will bring both strengths and opportunities for growth into the role. As such, we welcome applications from candidates who reflect a majority (but not necessarily all) of the following skills, qualifications, and experiences:

    • Demonstrated commitment to education, youth development, and creating opportunities so that all young people can thrive to their full potential.
    • Experience working with underserved youth in the Puget Sound region to address opportunity gaps.
    • Ability to set a vision and drive implementation.
    • Committed to racial, social, and economic justice; familiarity with anti-racism and anti-oppression work.
    • Understanding of the laws, regulations, and processes governing non-profit organizations.
    • Strong experience with personnel management in multicultural organizations and developing high-performing teams of staff and volunteers.
    • Experience managing a budget of over $750,000 annually.
    • Proven track record in fundraising for non-profit or business development.
    • Familiarity with, or interest in learning about, principles of Community-Centric Fundraising.
    • Expertise in cultivation, solicitation, and closing corporate, foundation, and individual gifts.
    • Ability to shift between high-level, big-picture work and supporting day-to-day operations.
    • Exemplary interpersonal skills, integrity, positive attitude, and mission-driven leadership.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
    • Willing and able to occasionally work evenings / weekends in support of programs and events.
    • Willing and able to use flexible and culturally relevant strategies to reach out to communities and individuals with differing communication styles and needs.
    • Ability to work successfully independently and as part of a team.
    • Committed to creating an equitable, collaborative, and inclusive office environment.
    • Adaptable and open to feedback, learning, and growth.
    • Legally authorized to work in the US.

The Executive Director reports directly to the OneWorld Now! Board of Directors. This is a full-time exempt position located in Seattle, WA. Generous benefits package with health insurance (medical, dental, and vision, with 100% employer contribution); 3% SIMPLE retirement matching; and paid time off policy (11 recognized holidays, accrued sick days, and starting with 15 days accrued vacation per year plus two weeks of paid office closure).

    Annual Salary: $90,000-$100,000 plus benefits.

OneWorld Now! is an equal opportunity employer. As an organization committed to advancing equity in our community, we encourage applicants from traditionally underrepresented communities to apply.

Must be authorized to work in the United States; OneWorld Now! does not sponsor visa applications or petitions. We would like this position to begin in July 2025 in order to coincide with our summer programming and allow for an intentional transition between leaders.
