    The New Press seeks a hungry, super organized grants manager, who has successfully maintained a foundation grants portfolio and is looking to join a high-volume, fast-paced team working with high level funders in social justice philanthropy.

    Position Summary: As the day-to-day operational lead for institutional fundraising, the Grants Manager manages The New Press-wide grants efforts and supports the CDO and other members of senior leadership in securing support from foundations to meet the organization’s philanthropic goals and operating needs.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Strategize with senior leadership members and relevant board members on an ongoing basis to Identify and cultivate major foundation prospects.
    • Manage, help execute and accurately track The New Press’s foundation fundraising plan in support of the organization’s $2.2m contributed foundation revenue goal.
    • Prepare prep memos and other materials for meetings with foundation representatives.
    • Draft and coordinate foundation proposals, in conjunction with other members of the fundraising team and editorial staff, for general operating support as well as programmatic support and support for specific book projects.
    • Report on all foundation grants in a thorough and timely fashion, including both narrative and financial components.
    • Work closely with The New Press finance team on grant budgeting, financial reporting, and reconciliation.
    • Maintain relationships with multiple high-level internal stakeholders.
    • Identify, research, and cultivate new and lapsed foundation donors for unrestricted and restricted support, as required.

    Required skills/Experience:

    • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, effectively manage a high volume of complex projects, tasks, and deadlines.
    • Proven track record with fundraising techniques and strategies for soliciting grants from private and family foundations, including pitch-crafting, proposal writing, budgeting, and reporting.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • An ability to move nuanced, high-context projects forward effectively.
    • Knowledge and familiarity with prospective research techniques.
    • Experience with budget development and monitoring finances with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Ability to hold confidential information concerning the organization’s strategic, philanthropic, and financial goals and priorities.
    • Exceptional organizational skills, diplomacy, discretion, attention to detail, pro-activeness, and a high energy level.
    • CFRE Preferred
